Funded PhD | Marie Skłodowska-Curie Doctoral Network Fellowship The development of algorithms for activity classification of device-measured physical activity in family settings across countries (Full time/36 months) A fully funded and salaried PhD position is available in the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Doctoral Network “IN DEEP (https://lnkd.in/dZNeYFhH). This PhD will provide an exciting training opportunity for candidates with an interest in physical activity measurement technology. The PhD will be based in the Physical Activity for Health research centre (https://www.ul.ie/ehs/pafh) at the University of Limerick, Ireland. The PhD will include 3-month secondments on data processing methodologies for activity monitors with industry partner SENS Innovation ApS (Copenhagen, Denmark) and on large scale data collection at the @Norwegian School of Sport Sciences (Oslo, Norway). INDEEP (INtervention on the DEterminants of, and Expertise in, Physical activity behaviours) is an EU-funded MSCA Doctoral Network that seeks to generate excellence in research and training, providing future graduates that can advance t understanding of the determinants associated with Physical Activity Behaviours. INDEEP will employ 10 PhD students across Europe who will collaborate to advance measurement technologies and understanding of these determinants. This PhD project aims to improve the measurement of Physical Activity Behaviours (PABs). The successful candidate will develop device-based activity monitoring using the Sens device in children and adults. The PhD will focus on development of machine learning algorithms to identify specific behaviors in accelerometer data recorded using the Sens device, and will apply this methodology in a large-scale data collection. This PhD would suit a candidate with previous experience of machine learning. Interested candidates should contact Professor Alan Donnelly; alan.donnelly@ul.ie Further information and application details are available at https://lnkd.in/dgu5WuCE. Applications should be submitted to INDEEPRecruitment@tus.ie

Discrete Wearable Activity Sensor for Healthcare and Research
Om os
SENS Innovation ApS develops medical sensor products, based on advanced sensor technology, for monitoring of physical activity with patients. The SENS products and platforms are easy to use, flexible, scalable and presents accurate monitoring of the body’s position and the nature of the activity, for both the individual or even larger groups. Therefore, SENS’s products and technology are a valuable tool in research trails to study e.g. study in correlation in physical activity and diseases. SENS Innovation ApS was founded in 2014 on the vision of revolutionizing the way our healthcare system uses daily physical activity in the treatment and prevention of a number of diseases. The system has been developed with doctors, patients and health trainers to fit the rehabilitation process both at home and within a hospital setting. SENS motion® is a tool for health professionals to efficiently follow up and motivate larger patient groups and provide support for especially physically weak patients.

🎊 We are proud to announce the official inclusion of the first real patient in the study #SENS4ME! 🎊 SENS4ME is co-funded by the #EUAALProgramme and the Innovation Fund Denmark, and with our partners including three public hospitals across Europe — Copenhagen, Stavanger, and Genova — along with Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona and 4Mvideo. 🤝 Christian Dall Erik Johannsen Ida Marie Pierrel-Boas Kasper Lundberg Lykkegaard #physicalactivity #sedentarybehaviour #sleep #accelerometer
First patient included today in Copenhagen - The SENS4ME study – exiting and hard work ahead. A collaborative effort Co-funded by the AAL Programme and the Innovation Fund Denmark. Our shared partnership involves three public hospitals across Europe—Copenhagen, Stavanger, and Genova, —along with University in Barcelona (the research part) and two private Danish companies, SENS Innovation ApS and 4mvideo.com (the innovation part). Our aim is to enhance physical activity levels and prevent further decline in physical function among older medical patients. We hypothesize that we will achieve this by providing support to healthcare staff and especially to patients journey from hospitalization through discharge and three months of technology-assisted rehabilitation in the patient’s own home. With a great research group across Europe Morten Tange Kristensen, Charlotte Suetta, Anja Løve Berger (Copenhagen), Martha Gjestsen, Dag Aasland, (Stavanger), Silvia Buonopane, Fiammetta Monacelli, (Genova), Lydia Gimenez Llort, (Barcelona), as well as the innovative teams from the health tech companies SENS Innovation and 4Mvideo, we are committed to making a positive impact on patient well-being. Sover du for lidt? 😴 🛏 Voksne danskere i alderen 18-64 år skal sove mellem syv og ni timer om natten, lyder det fra Ifølge Sundhedsstyrelsens nye anbefalinger om søvn. 32% sover for lidt.

Wildlife spotted wearing SENS motion 🔍 We are used to tracking the PAL (Physical Activity Level) of people, but sometimes we also track Penguin Activity Level! Shown in the video, you see Guigui the penguin 🐧 (the one in the front) running for the fish while wearing a #sensmotion-sensor at Oceanogràfic de València. Oceanogràfic de València aim to optimise the algorithms of the sensors developed for humans to adapt them to the activities and behaviours of animals. Combining the data from the sensors with the context where they live (light, environmental noise, interactions, feeding times, etc.), they can develop environmental care and enrichment plans that improve the well-being of the animals as the ultimate goal. Last year the the sensors were also used for the measurements of turtles, pelicans, and dolphins, each representing their species of reptiles, birds, and aquatic mammals. 🐢 🐊 🦆 🐬 Thank you for the collaboration @Mario Fernández Sánchez, Daniel García Párraga and Olli Tikkanen, PhD, CEO Read more about our discrete sensors and how they can help you track physical activity, sedentary behaviour, and sleep - also for people: https://www.sens.dk/en/ #penguins #physicalactivity #animalhealth #OceanogràficdeValència #
