It was a great opportunity to clear the head and enjoy mindful movement with colleagues before starting the work day!   A special thank you to our yoga instructor & colleague Natalia Tokarczyk for not only the challenging yet empowering yoga poses during the flow, but especially the opening meditation. 🌱 Milestone Achievement in Renewable Energy! 🌱 In just one day, 14/07, European Energy plants Ouro Branco 1&2 and Quatro Ventos, in Pernambuco, Brazil, generated an impressive 2.08 GWh of energy. This value is enough to power over 15,800 homes in the Northeast region for an entire month (Source: Anuário 2024 EPE*)! Such remarkable achievement is only possible due to our operational team's dedication and hard work, led by our technical asset manager, Regis Altamir Farias Nilo. Last week, we inaugurated a solar park in Tuscany! Italy was one of the first markets in which European Energy started developing renewable energy. In 2006, we started constructing a wind farm in Monte Vitalba in Tuscany, and since then, our pipeline has only grown.   We have worked with Gruppo Iren for a few years on several projects. In total, we have collaborated on around 180 MW of solar Parks. Last week, we celebrated not just the commissioning of a 38.5 MWp photovoltaic park but a step forward in our collective effort to combat climate change and reduce carbon emissions. With this park, we will produce 58 GWh of renewable energy annually, meeting the energy needs of over 17,000 households and avoiding more than 42,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions yearly. 

In many places around the world, land resources are scarce. To tackle the high demand for new green energy and promote the sustainable use of natural resources, we need a new, innovative approach to land use. Instead of designating a plot of land for one kind of use, the future points towards solutions that seek to synergize energy supply, food security, nature conservation, and biodiversity. Flakkebjerg Solar Park in Denmark is a joint project between European Energy, Aarhus University, Københavns Universitet - University of Copenhagen and Slagelse Kommune, and funded by Innovation Fund Denmark. Its purpose is to test solar power and crop growth in a shared space. This is what is called agri-PV or agrivoltaic, a combination of agricultural and photovoltaic tehnologies. Four reasons why battery storage is critical for renewable energy. 1. Balancing production 2. Stabilizing the grid 3. Increased energy production 4. Better resilience For these reasons, European Energy is working actively to implement battery storage in our renewable energy projects. Our battery storage projects are primarily co-located, meaning a regular renewable energy park is combined with batteries on the same plot, sharing the same grid connection. We currently have multiple battery storage projects in our development pipeline, with a majority co-located with solar farms. These projects are strategically positioned in mature battery storage markets.

We are happy to announce that we have gotten grid connection approvals for around 500 MW renewable energy projects in Romania. These consents bring the schemes closer to the ready-to-build stage and European Energy Romania’s total development pipeline now exceeds 1.5 GW of solar and wind sites. We estimate that hybrid projects, which include a mix of solar, wind, and battery storage technologies, could drive the development of renewable energy in Romania. Another initiative that could spur this development is the establishment of clear regulations for guarantees of origin, which would stimulate corporate power purchase agreements in the country. https://lnkd.in/dqNpHdsb

We have partnered up with Energiequelle GmbH in repowering a wind farm in Schleswig-Holstein in Germany. Eight new Vestas V162 turbines with a unit capacity of 6.2 MW will replace seven machines at what is currently a 12.5-MW wind farm in Tüttendorf. This will quadruple the installed capacity to a future total of 49.6 megawatts. The wind farm will produce around 120,000 MWh of electricity per year. Read more here: https://lnkd.in/dNMxidet

While others talk about Powerpoint-to-X projects - we construct Power-to-X projects. The Danish newspaper Jyllands-Posten recently had an article about Knud Erik Andersen showcasing how far we are not only with our current projects in Måde and Kassø - but also elaborating on what the near future will bring of Power-to-X plans in Denmark, naming Nakskov in Lolland Municipality and Padborg in Aabenraa Municipality as sites that European Energy is developing.
