In collaboration with our Belgian partners, A2D architecture 2 design and D+A nv , we are pleased to share that we've been selected to participate in the competition for the design of 400 new homes on the southwestern edge of Leuven! The Sint-Jansbergsesteenweg site is the last greenfield development in Leuven and will act as a pilot project within the goal of the city to be climate neutral by the year 2030. This ambitious project calls for a mix of homes, community services and public spaces that make a positive contribution to their environment in terms of diversity, sustainability and spatial character. Selected from a pool of 19 applications, our team is one of 5 invited to continue to the next tender phase based on our shared "conviction to generate a positive impact on a social, economic and ecological level" says the jury report. We look forward to bringing a new vision to life on the other side of summer! Thank you to stad Leuven, DIJLEDAL Sociale Woonmaatschappij Leuven, and Katholieke Universiteit Leuven (KU Leuven)

Can upcycling, reuse, and biogenic materials like clay, straw, and timber go hand in hand with modular and prefabricated designs that are easily disassembled? Can scalable housing systems not only be functional but also create distinct architectural expressions that add character and uniqueness to the design? Let’s find out! We are excited to test the "Nest House" through the The Circular Lab / Det Cirkulære Laboratorium at Roskilde Festival to monitor indoor quality parameters such as temperature, air quality, general comfort, and humidity. These tests aim to learn from the wear and tear 130,000 people can cause in eight days and demonstrate the building system's effectiveness. Come visit the housing prototype in Area 10A to experience a living space constructed entirely from biogenic materials and help us test it out: https://lnkd.in/dsFbYSVM Discover why the combination of biogenic materials and scalable construction methods has tremendous potential to reduce the CO2 footprint in construction and meet the high demand for modern, flexible homes that are healthier for both people and the planet. This initiative brings together various stakeholders from the building industry, united by a shared vision of redefining contemporary living while accelerating the green transition: EFFEKT, Modulina Straw Panels, a:gain, Jensen Genbrug, MUD WORK, CS Byggeservice, Guldbech Gruppen A/S. We recently had the pleasure of visiting the beautiful city of Guimarães in northern Portugal. Known for its UNESCO World Heritage status, Guimarães is also in the running for the European Green Capital 2026. This historic city serves as the backdrop for our latest Biome project, a collaboration with the Portuguese contractor and developer Grupo Casais. The project features a 55,000m² residential development across 12 adaptable, livable, and healthy Biome buildings, each offering stunning views of Guimarães. With flexible apartment and building typologies, Biome can be tailored to diverse demographics and locations, fostering a sense of belonging and individuality. Through merging CREE BUILDINGS' modular timber-hybrid system with our tailormade design solutions, the new Biome housing product reduces construction time, cost, and risk, while enhancing quality over time. So excited to share the new Living Places book launching today! The knowledge and insights from the Living Places project are now available in the new book, "Living Places: Principles and Insights for a New Way of Thinking Buildings." The book is a truly collaborative effort, with contributions from the project’s main partners, the VELUX Group, EFFEKT architects and Artelia Denmark, as well as scientific experts and industry professionals. It is intended for a wide audience, ranging from experienced architects and building industry professionals to anyone interested in the potential of healthy buildings and the necessity of prioritizing them. The book is enriched with detailed diagrams, infographics, hand-drawn sketches, and photographs by Adam Mørk.
