Founded by architect Dan Stubbergaard, Cobe creates future-proof urbanism, landscapes and architecture

Om os

Cobe creates architecture that shapes the future and aspires to create surroundings that actively contribute to extraordinary everyday life. Cobe was founded in 2006 by the architect Dan Stubbergaard. Today, the company is a bustling international environment of more than 150 dedicated professionals devoted to creating extraordinary cities, buildings and landscapes that make a difference in everyday life. We offer services within urban planning, architecture, landscape architecture and interior design. Every day we strive for extraordinary, long-lasting quality in the cities, buildings and landscapes we shape. Today, the building and construction sector account for 40% of the world’s CO₂ emissions. We know that any newly built neighbourhood, house or urban space requires a certain amount of our planet’s resources, and we have a profound responsibility to exchange these into resilient, long-term solutions – cities, buildings and landscapes that are made to outlast our generation.

Are you driving around Denmark this summer? Then it's a good opportunity to visit Cobe and Clever's charging stations around the Danish summer countryside and cities.   At the ultra-fast charging stations, you can not only charge your car, but also take a mental break. The charging stations are built with a goal of dedicating at least 40% of the charging station area to biodiversity and landscape by incorporating plants and natural habitats for microorganisms, insects and animals.     Since the first charging station in Fredericia opened in 2019, new charging stations have been realized in Knudshoved, Odense, Esbjerg, Thisted, Køge, Frederiksberg, Aarhus Harbour, Ballerup, Purhus, Maribo, Ringsted, Pårup, Nykøbing Mors, Vejle, Hans Knudsens Plads (Østerbro), Nørresundby, Rønnede, Nørre Alslev, Hillerød, Aabenraa and many more to come.

Reflecting on Folkemødet – Denmark’s annual political festival – we've been busy considering the many exciting debates we participated in.   Our Head of Legal, Oline Nowicki, engaged in a crucial discussion on green marketing in the construction industry with Ole Spiermann (Bruun & Hjejle Advokatpartnerselskab), Sisse Norman Canguilhem (Rådet for Bæredygtigt Byggeri), Christian Poll (Forbrugerombudsmanden) and Mia Helvig Manghezi (PensionDanmark), moderated by Josefine Movin Østergaard (Bruun & Hjejle Advokatpartnerselskab).   "Sustainable initiatives are growing in the construction industry, and companies are keen to market their efforts. It was interesting to discuss the risks of greenwashing and greenhushing. I think it's fair to say that the key takeaway in terms of marketing sustainable initiatives is to 'say what you do' – and remember the documentation!" – Oline Nowicki, Head of Legal.   Our Head of Urbanism, Mads Birgens, joined a panel to discuss the future of Copenhagen. Alongside former City Architect of Copenhagen, Camilla Richter-Friis van Deurs, Ingvar Sejr Hansen (By & Havn), Gitte Gylling H. Olesen (COWI), Marie Stærke (Køge Kommune), and Christian Johansen (Bruun & Hjejle Advokatpartnerselskab), they tackled questions like whether populations will continue moving towards big city centers or rural areas, if Øresund will become Copenhagen's development platform, and Copenhagen’s infrastructural needs.   "The future of Copenhagen depends on understanding regional scales and cultures. While the inner city thrives globally, the suburbs strengthen their identity. A key challenge is managing the ongoing changes in the modernist landscape, and the intertwining but undefined relation of urban fragments and leftover nature – both in search of identity." – Mads Birgens, Head of Urbanism   A big thank you to Bruun & Hjejle Advokatpartnerselskab for inviting Cobe to these exciting debates and facilitating important conversations.

Time has come for a renewal of The Fingerplan of Copenhagen. The regional framework that has been the steering tool to navigate through modernity, the growing love for cars, suburban lifestyle and detached housing districts. Our finalist proposal 'There is no end to Copenhagen' is an acknowledgement to the legacy and robustness of the original Fingerplan. Meanwhile, it does take up a number of pressure points from the ongoing growth in the region. Like the growing car park and endless asphaltation, urban expansions with green field developments, and our (non)romantic relation to the green fingers. DREYERS FOND Arkitektforeningen Cobe

Cobe's proposal, ‘There is no end to Copenhagen', has been selected for the final phase of the competition 'Finger Plan 2.0'. The Finger Plan has set the guidelines for regional growth in the Danish capital for the last 75 years. Our proposal acknowledges the legacy and robustness of the original Finger Plan, while addressing several pressure points from the ongoing growth in the region. These include, among others, the increasing number of car parks and endless asphalt paving, urban expansions with greenfield developments, and our romantic relationship with the green wedges of the Finger Plan 'Fingerplan 2.0' is organized by Arkitektforeningen and funded by DREYERS FOND.

Once again, Adidas HOMEGROUND is the home base for the German national football team for UEFA EURO 2024. HOMEGROUND was also the base for UEFA Men's EURO 2020 and UEFA Women's Euro 2022 and is part of the adidas 'World of Sports' headquarters in Germany. Completed in 2020, Cobe has designed a robust and flexible village in the woods centered around the well-being of the team. The various functions, including restaurant, offices, healthcare center and housing for the team, are centered around a plaza that also serves as a gathering point for the team. The housing units are distributed in its forest setting, surrounding the common functions and connected through an elevated path system, treading lightly on the site’s natural habitat. The buildings is made entirely of prefabricated cross-laminated timber. We are delighted to once again experience HOMEGROUND as a setting for football and community. What an incredible 3daysofdesign! We partnered with FRITZ HANSEN to envision the future of wellbeing through extraordinary design and architecture. Across three settings—hospitality, workplace, and outdoor—the exhibitions explored the transformative effect of great design in modern architecture, set in The Opera Park and Paper Island. Highlights also included insightful talks from Cobe’s Head of Urbanism, Mads Birgens, and Founder, Dan Stubbergaard, as well as sunset drinks and amazing company. Thank you to everyone who joined us!
