Water Being Detected:
Didn't spill anything on it? It may be condensation or humidity in the air.
Extracting Water from an iPhone:
Water and other liquid damage to iPhone or iPod isn't covered by warranty. So, contact your local retailer, asking if they have devices that are made to extracts water from mobile devices. Many retailers do. And one just down the street from me has that device.
Leave it in a dry place for a day or two.
But also inspect and clean out the lightning port using a bright light and a toothpick. Sometimes dirt in the port can cause that warning.
