Why does my Apple Watch SE battery drain so quickly?

the battery life on my newish apple watch SE has always been a bit bad but some days, it can hardly go 5-6 hours without draining almost completely. i purchased it in february of this year (2024). i do use it for exercise often throughout the day but it still drains so rapidly despite always being on low power mode whenever it’s measuring.

and it isn’t always draining too rapidly. some days it can last for a while. but i left the house with it at 80 or so, and now it’s at 35 less than 3 hours later.

is there anything i can do to fix it or lessen the battery drain?

batter health is at 97%, if its worth anything.

To understand Apple Watch performance and its relation to your battery, see:

“Battery life” is the amount of time your device runs before it needs to be recharged. “Battery lifespan” is the amount of time your battery lasts until it needs to be replaced. Maximize both and you’ll get the most out of your Apple devices, no matter which ones you own. See the "Tips for Apple Watch" section in:

FWIW, in some cases, unpairing the watch, completely erasing it, then pairing and restoring the backup will resolve the battery draining issue after an update. (Simply unpairing and pairing again may not work.)

And some people have found that simply waiting a few days after an update resolves the battery draining problem.
