Child & Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship

Delivering Focused Clinical Training in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry

The Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship at Dell Medical School at The University of Texas at Austin combines rich history with the excitement of new collaborations and opportunities. Started at Austin State Hospital in 1971 and then revived by Ascension Seton, the training program’s collaboration with Dell Med and UT has introduced energetic new faculty members, bold new programs and cutting-edge researchers.

Faculty members are devoted to helping trainees develop into excellent clinicians and enhance their special talents or interests in the rapidly changing field of child and adolescent psychiatry.

The Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship is affiliated with the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences.

Program Director

Training Facilities

Dell Children’s Medical Center of Central Texas, an Ascension Texas facility, is the core of the program’s clinical activity. The inpatient unit is located in the Grace Grego Maxwell Mental Health Center at Dell Children’s, as is the main hub of Texas Child Study Center, the outpatient clinic. Additionally, fellows provide consultation to the pediatric inpatients on the medical-surgical floors of Dell Children’s. Electives are available at UT’s Counseling and Mental Health Center, in the Children’s Comprehensive Care Clinic and in several other local locations.

Dell Children’s Medical Center of Central Texas

Dell Children’s is a multispecialty medical hospital and the only pediatric Level 1 Trauma Center in Central Texas, serving a 46-county area. Texas Child Study Center, located in Dell Children’s, is a multidisciplinary outpatient clinic that provides high-quality emotional and cognitive treatment for a diverse population of Central Texas youths and families.

Children’s Comprehensive Care Clinic

Ascension Seton’s Children’s Comprehensive Care Clinic provides care to children with complex medical issues in a way that aims to reduce stress on families and improves patient outcomes and quality of life. This is an elective experience offered in the program’s second year.

UT Counseling And Mental Health Center.
UT Austin Counseling & Mental Health Center

The Counseling and Mental Health Center provides counseling, psychiatric, consultation and prevention services. This is an elective experience offered in the program’s second year.
