Two years ago tink has crossed the €100 million revenue threshold, marking a significant milestone in our journey. To capitalize on this achievement, we've teamed up with Oliver Wyman to enhance our scalability and profitability. Here are a few insights from our recent workshop with our advisory board, focusing on actionable measures: 🌳 Establishing a Scalable Organization in a Growing Market: With the online GMV quadrupling since 2015 and projected to continue robust growth over the next 5-10 years, it's crucial to build a scalable organization. A target of less than 9% of revenue for personnel costs ensures a healthy and adaptable structure. 🌍 Expanding Addressable Markets with your core strength: German companies enjoy competitive COGS and operational models due to regulations and customer demand. Replicating this model in less competitive markets can lead to up to 50% higher margins and corresponding revenue growth. 💎 Offering Unique Products and Services: To differentiate from online price wars, focus on providing unique product and service offerings. Online players typically face an 11-18% gross margin deficit compared to offline and multichannel players due to price variations, rebates and assortment mixes. 📈 Understanding the COGS-Demand-Supply Triangle: On average the analysed online players don't utilize over 3% margin potential due to weak purchasing negotiations (e.g. buying alliances, spot purchasing, kickbacks) and understanding (customer group specific) price elasticity of each offered product. ❤️ Marketing for Customer Lifetime Value (CLV): Shifting marketing strategies from focusing solely on short-term revenue to maximizing CLV yields impressive results. Companies adapting in this manner witness a 70-85% increase in new customers and CLV, along with a 15-25% rise in net sales and absolute margin.
