About The Job

The Translational Disease Modeling (TDM) department at Sanofi is seeking to hire a highly talented mathematical modeling scientist to support its R&D portfolio. The TDM group is part of the Translational Medicine organization in Sanofi R&D. Join our Translational Disease Modeling team as Quantitative Systems Pharmacology Modeler (all genders) and you’ll actively help shape the future for our immunology & inflammation portfolio.

Main responsibilities:

  • Generation and application of Quantitative Systems Pharmacology (QSP) models and virtual patients in close collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to drive decision making in pharmaceutical research and development.
  • Run in-silico clinical trials in virtual patients to de-risk, optimize, and accelerate drug development.
  • Modeling and simulation expert in research and clinical development teams with experts from different functional areas.
  • Assessment and prioritization of modeling needs and contribution to strategic modeling work plans for R&D projects to ensure quality and impact of modeling and simulation work packages.
  • Clear communication of modeling results to key stakeholders.
  • Implementation of scientific and technological innovations in the area of QSP and disease modeling.

About You

  • Experience: 3+ years of mathematical modeling & computer simulation experience specific for biomedical/pharmaceutical applications (experience within pharmaceutical industry highly desired).
  • Soft and technical skills:
    • Broad understanding of disease, disease progression and pharmacology for respective therapeutic area (experience within immunology and inflammation desired).
    • Good understanding of cell biology and physiology as well as understanding of the basic principles of pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics required.
    • Hands-on experience with programming languages like Matlab/R/Julia (Matlab preferred). Knowledge of C/C++/Python desirable.
    • Strong communication skills as well as desire to work within an interdisciplinary team environment.
  • Education: Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering, Systems Biology/Pharmacology, Applied Mathematics or related fields.
  • Languages: Proficient in spoken and written English.
