Procurement Specialist (m/w/d) hybrid in Heidelberg

For our site in Heidelberg, we are looking for a Procurement Specialist in a customer facing role. The role is based primarily on site and involves the procurement of all material goods including lab/office supplies, OPEX & Oligonucleotides-with direction and support from customer teams, CAPEX items and identified services & software licenses. This individual will manage the end-to-end procurement process and build connections with the customer and the on-site consumables team

Job Responsibilities:

As part of our team, you will be responsible for the purchase to pay processes of consumables and CAPEX items on site. This includes ensuring that all orders are accurately processed within agreed time frames as well as the communication of order status and progress to the customers. You will be the single point of contact to all purchasing enquiries on site and communicate to other purchasing teams and the back office as required. By closely communicating with the on-site consumables team and the customers, cost saving e.g. by bulk orders should be realized.

A main focus of work will be to organize the availability of consumables for research on site, and for this vendor communication to request quotes and clarify on lead times are part of the day-to-day business. As a purchasing specialist, you will be responsible of detecting and analyzing problems between supplier and requester in order to optimize procedures.

Our on site team in Heidelberg works to give time back to science by our service provision, and part of your work will be to provide relevant Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) to the PerkinElmer management team concerning the procurement service and to identify and report back new opportunities to expand service provision on site.

As work is conducted on a research site, it is vital you comply with all site Health and Safety regulations and maintain training and compliance in areas of health and safety, security and environmental and operational aspects of the daily activities at all times.

The Profile:

The successful candidate will be a strong team player with a high drive for innovation and optimizing procedures. We are looking for an individual that is self-motivated and has the ability to work well under pressure to manage conflicting deadlines. In addition, this person will be an effective problem solver by means of analytical thinking and attention to detail as well as good organization skills. As this is a customer facing role, it requires effective communication and the ability to listen to and understand the customers’ requirements. The successful candidate will have to be able to change and adjust in a fast-moving environment.

Basics:

• Customer Service, procurement background
• Experience in negotiations and stakeholder management in a regulated environment
• Strong IT skills
• Fluency and literacy in the English language
• valid work permission for Germany
  
  

Preferred:

• Fluency in the German language is a plus
• Knowledge of databases and purchase ordering systems appreciated
• Bachelor’s degree in a related subject preferred
  
  

The Working Environment:

• Job pace may be fast and job completion demands may be high.
• Must be able to remain in a stationary position more than 25% of the time
• Routinely operates a computer and other office machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer.
• Potential risk to lab-based hazards including but not limited to extreme temperature, biological materials, and hazardous chemicals.
