Principal Energy Consultant (Digital or Energy Infrastructure

A leading global Energy & Utility company based near Dusseldorf, Germany, is seeking to hire a Principal Consultant with expertise in either Digital Transformation or Energy & Utility infrastructure/energy networks/grids, to join their internal consulting/strategy division. This division is headed by ex-partners and principals from McKinsey, Bain, BCG, and Roland Berger.

The team acts as a strategic partner, supporting the Board and Executive Management on high-impact, visionary projects to shape the future of Energy. These range from initial strategy development to implementation, digital, operations and transformation, across all of their key business units including Corporate, Renewables, Customer Solutions and Energy Networks.

The Role:

You will act as a direct sparring partner for their top senior management team, being responsible for designing and realizing their most important projects. You will also be coaching project managers, acting as a thought leader, and making a significant contribution to the Group’s overall commercial success.

Key Requirements:

• A Degree from a leading university (minimum Master’s degree level required), preferably in electrical or industrial engineering.
• Deep experience in the Energy industry with expertise in either Digital transformation (including Digital business models and digital sales channels) and/or Energy & Utility Infrastructure (Digitalisation with energy infrastructure, knowledge and experience of energy-economic complexities of DSOs - Distribution System Operator)
• At least 7 years of professional working experience, including experience at a top management consulting or in-house consulting team.
• Proven project management skills.
• Outstanding analytic and problem-solving capabilities
• Full fluency in German language is required
• Even in difficult situations, your excellent communication and moderation skills allow you to effectively win over senior management.
• An entrepreneurial mindset, strong leadership and decision-making ability, a talent for creative and innovative thinking, and prepared to take risks and a readiness to accept responsibility.
