VPS Region NCE represents the corporate product & technology organisation Vestas Power Solutions (VPS) in the 6+ GW p.a. regional business unit Northern & Central Europe (NCE), spanning from Ireland to Kazakhstan and Norway to the Balkans and across the spectrum of Sustainable Energy Solutions with On- & Offshore wind at the core.

Our main responsibilities centre around taking the full accountability for the development, contracting, value engineering, customisation and execution of renewable energy projects, regional product market requirements and product integrity management.

Responsibilities

As an Electrical Engineer in the Technical Development Solutions NCE team, you will:

  • Liaise with Transmission/Distribution System Operators, assess compliance with Grid Codes and other grid-related requirements, and collect transmission/substation capacities where possible
  • Collaborate with consultants to prepare and submit grid connection applications, managing technical annexes and contract schedules
  • Own the assessment and mitigation of technical risks related to grid connection agreements to ensure project compliance throughout its lifecycle
  • Coordinate technical consultants in preparing the "Preliminary Electrical BoP Design" (e.g., substation, collection system, electrical equipment sizing calculations, specifications, drawings) and related design interfaces (e.g., electrical, SCADA, civil)
  • Coordinate and support activities with internal stakeholders on electrical simulation studies to define wind power plant performance (e.g., electrical losses, grid code compliance) according to site-specific grid conditions and requirements
  • Act as the regional point of contact for Vestas' R&D teams in the development of relevant tools and processes

Qualifications

  • M.Sc. or B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering or Power Systems Engineering
  • 5+ years of experience in a similar role, such as design and development of wind or solar projects, or grid integration of renewable energy projects
  • Experience in preparing documents for grid connection applications
  • Comprehensive knowledge of WTG HV and MV equipment and substation equipment, with a good understanding of primary and secondary systems
  • Familiarity with power system simulation software such as DIgSILENT, PSCAD, or PSSE
  • High proficiency in English, both spoken and written; additional European languages are beneficial

  • Advanced technical skills with a problem-solving attitude and the ability to create and continuously improve internal processes and tools
  • Good communication and presentation skills; competence in interacting with internal (management, Project Development teams) and external stakeholders (co-development partners, grid operators, consultants)
  • Good organizational abilities and the capacity to prioritize tasks effectively in a fast-moving environment
  • Highly structured and well-organized
  • Ability to summarize technical topics for non-technical stakeholders

Additional Information

Primary preferred work location will be Hamburg or Berlin, Germany. Alternative working location set up upon discussion with hiring manger. This position requires approximately 20% time for travel.

In this role you will report directly to the Head of Technical Development.
