Who will you be joining?

The Cat Risk Management team is located within the Advisory & Services area, Allianz Re (Munich). As intern, you will play a functional and technical support role in the daily work conducted by the CAT GIS/R&D/Portfolio Analytics Teams in the natural catastrophe management unit of Allianz SE Reinsurance. This role will mainly revolve around functional and technical support of the assessment of natural perils.

How can you make an impact?

• Support of the development and testing of hazard layers and cat models
• (Geospatial) data validations, cleansing and analytics
• Support the processes around insurance exposure data collection and runs with the Allianz internal risk capital model
• Assist in ad-hoc requests around such topics
  
  

What are you made of?

Minimum Qualifications

• Master student in any natural science/geoscience discipline, mathematics or related discipline
• Strong analytical, mathematical and statistical skill set
• Programming skills (preferably Python) basic knowledge of relational databases (e.g. Oracle, Postgres)
• Requirement for internship and working student positions is the enrollment in a university – or (for an internship) a gap year

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiar with the use of GIS software (e.g. ESRI) and MS Office applications
• Understanding of basic insurance terms is a plus
• Carefully and diligently completes their duties and quickly grasps complex topics
• Strong interpersonal skills and cultural awareness
• Fluency in English is mandatory, and the ability to speak German would be beneficial
• Previous experience in business related functions (e.g. Sales, Operations, Claims, Underwriting, Investment Management, Asset Management, Consulting, Product Development, Finance, Market Management, Digital / Tech etc.) is a plus
