Role Description
WGS is seeking a full-time Ground Segment System Engineer to support our customer. Our service supports various missions' ground segments, including development, maintenance, and evolution. Initial support will include EPS-SG, MTG, MSG, EPS, Multi-Mission-Systems, EPS-Sterna, and EPS-Aeolus.
Work is primarily on-site in Darmstadt, Germany, with some flexibility for remote work.
Responsibilities
The service covers;
Management & Programmatic Support: Contributing to overall management and program activities.
Engineering Requirements & Design: Handling requirements definition, consolidation, and early design phases.
Detail Design & Build-Up: Engaging in detailed design and build-up phases.
IVV Engineering:
Defining AIV plans, test scenarios, specifications, and procedures.
Coordinating and implementing integration and verification activities.
Contributing to validation processes.
Operations & Maintenance Support: Assisting with the operation and maintenance (corrective and evolutive) of ground segments.
Obsolescence Management: Supporting the obsolescence of ground segments or components.
Qualifications
A university degree in a relevant technical discipline (i.e. Computer Science, Aerospace Engineering, Software Engineering, etc. ) or the equivalent work experience,
At least 3 years’ experience in Systems Engineering and IV&V related activities for at least one major element (e.g. PDP, MOC, Archive etc.) of a ground segment for earth observation missions
Knowledge of space and ground system engineering processes, and system and software life-cycles and standards (e.g: ECSS) and change control procedures
Very good experience in Definition, management and traceability of requirements structure with the support of dedicated tools (e.g. DOORS)
Experience in interface management and definition, including familiarity with mechanisms and tools for detailed interface definition and capability to prepare and manage ICD
Experience with formal testing (FAT/OSAT), including preparation of test procedures, TRRs/TRBs
Experience in formal verification control processes (VCBs) and maintenance of VCDs
Use of modelling and design languages for System Engineering (e.g. SysML) and tools in support of architectural design activities (e.g. Enterprise Architect)
Experience in operational environments under strict configuration management rules
Experience in maintenance of ground system and associated anomaly management process
Experience with Data Processing systems for earth observation missions and Satellite Mission Control systems for earth observation missions
Experience with Ground Stations for archiving, monitoring, data dissemination
Very good knowledge of scripting in Linux environment
Experience with ground segment test data, including reconditioning, change control, and related test tools
Ability to write accurate and consistent technical documentation
Having high degree of working autonomy, problem solving, good analytical skills
Experience in working as part of a multicultural team
The ability to speak fluency in English (spoken and written)
