Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced and strategic Global Commodity Manager - Steel to join our procurement team. This pivotal role involves managing all direct commodities and materials, with a primary focus on steel. The successful candidate will report directly to the Raw Materials Manager and will oversee several buyers within the team.

Key Responsibilities:

• Commodity Management: Oversee the procurement of steel, our largest commodity, ensuring cost-effective purchasing and supplier management.
• Strategic Sourcing: Develop and implement sourcing strategies that align with market trends and organizational goals.
• Supplier Relations: Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers, understanding market dynamics and ensuring reliable supply chains.
• Cost Savings: Identify and execute cost-saving opportunities, focusing on achieving significant savings across the €300 million procurement budget.
• Team Collaboration: Work closely with other buyers and procurement team members, providing guidance and support to ensure cohesive and efficient operations.
• Reporting and Analysis: Monitor market trends, analyze data, and report on procurement activities and performance metrics.

Qualifications:

• Industry Experience: Proven experience in the automotive industry, with a strong focus on steel procurement. Knowledge of suppliers and market trends is essential.
• Language Skills: Proficiency in German (B2 or higher) and English.
• Educational Background: A degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
• Professional Experience: Previous experience as a Senior Buyer or in a similar role within the automotive sector.
• Analytical Skills: Strong analytical abilities, with a focus on data-driven decision-making and strategic sourcing.
• Interpersonal Skills: Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build and maintain effective supplier relationships.
