We are thrilled to announce that Seer Airport Intelligence Suite is officially live and ready to transform airport operations! What started as an idea in 2018 has now become a reality. After a successful pilot phase at #FrankfurtAirport in collaboration with Fraport AG and Lufthansa, Seer formerly known as DeepTurnaround, is now zeroG’s first scalable product available on our website. Seer, which means foreseeing and predicting the outcome of a turnaround based on what is seen, is designed to revolutionize airport operations by making turnaround processes more transparent, efficient, and accessible through advanced data collection and real-time alerts. Our solution offers real-time monitoring of up to 30 critical events, a customizable alerting system for focused attention, and accurate off-block time predictions for increased punctuality. It seamlessly integrates into existing airport operations and features robust data protection and security measures. To celebrate, we hosted a special get-together at our zeroG office, where we had a presentation on Seer as a product, followed by our website launch. We were honored to have key stakeholders Lena Luftschitz, Laura Pappert, and Edgar König from Fraport AG, as well as Patrick Schröder and David Paetz from Lufthansa, join us. Their invaluable insights and collaboration have been pivotal in bringing Seer to life. A heartfelt thank you to everyone involved in this journey. Generative AI has unlocked numerous new opportunities within the Lufthansa Group. However, the aviation field presents unique challenges that general models like ChatGPT don't naturally understand. We need to teach these models specialized knowledge to prevent mistakes, a process known as "Grounding." Our expert, Dr. Alexander Motzek, shared innovative ways to embed this specialized knowledge during a company-wide call. He explained how RAG patterns (Retrieve and Generate) can help AI understand specific tasks, like creating a digital assistant for the European Flight Academy by Lufthansa Aviation Training Group. Despite their effectiveness, RAG patterns do have some flaws. Alex also discussed ways to improve these patterns, focusing on better methods for finding, ranking, and understanding information. The most significant improvement comes from new, larger models like GPT-4o. This model can handle much more information, expanding from a few dozen PDF pages to hundreds or thousands. As the leading expert center for data-driven AI and Machine Learning solutions in aviation, we tested these improvements on concrete use cases in the Lufthansa Group based on real-world data, and they performed exceptionally well. Our latest internal hackathon was filled with brainstorming, coding, and testing as ten of our expert Engineers collaborated to build solutions for an Internal zeroG Skills Database and an Optimized Training Request System. The gathering has evolved into a pivotal day set to revolutionize our processes at zeroG. The focus was on simplifying the learning of staff project teams with complementary skill groups and improving the training request process by providing more information to users and automating the requesting and approval procedures. Our experts also aimed to enable staffing circles to understand which people work on which projects. These enhancements, along with the progress made and the prototypes developed, will significantly streamline our internal processes, making our work at zeroG even more efficient. We are happy to share insights from Impact Week Greece 2024, an enlightening experience centered on sparking innovation through design thinking. Our colleague, Dr. Aditya Singh, recently attended this intense training program that began with a 3-day "Train the Coach" module in Porto Astro. Senior coaches trained junior coaches on the six-step design thinking process, fostering a mindset of innovation and critical reflection. The scenario then shifted to Athens, where junior coaches put their skills to the test. Over four days, they guided groups of students and social workers through socially relevant challenges, focusing on creating solutions for the refugee community. Participants from diverse backgrounds brought unique perspectives and enriched the collaborative experience, driving innovative solutions to some of the toughest social challenges. Adi specifically guided a group in evaluating new ways to motivate volunteers to support people experiencing homelessness in Athens.
