Bringing more efficiency to the fields is one of the main tasks of modern #agriculture, especially through the automation of driving and working processes. In view of the challenges posed by a growing world population and climate change, Voith subsidiary ARGO-HYTOS offers innovative #solutions to increase efficiency and #sustainability in agriculture 🚜. A good example of this is the Spray Height Control System. This assistance system ensures that the distance between the spray boom and the plant canopy remains constant. The distance to the plant is precisely measured and adjusted using ultrasonic sensors and hydraulic control technology. In addition, using hydropneumatic suspension technology the sprayer boom is decoupled from the rest of the machine. Compared to standard mechanical suspension solutions, the suspension characteristics can be adjusted electronically, while simplifying the mechanical setup of the boom kinematics. The Voith Inline Thruster (#VIT) stands for smooth running and fast response, which significantly increases comfort on board maritime applications and enables #dynamicpositioning in any situation. The combination of maintenance-free motor and propeller made of highly resistant bronze material guarantees a long service life and high reliability. In addition, the VIT is cooled by seawater, so no additional cooling systems are required. Thanks to the innovative design of the VIT, which requires neither a drive shaft nor a gearbox, the propulsion power is converted directly and both the thrust yield and the efficiency are increased. As the rotor is mounted in a seawater-lubricated plain bearing patented by Voith for systems up to 500 kW, low vibrations, extremely smooth running and a compact design are achieved. The short response times of the VIT to steering commands make the VIT the ideal choice for owners and crews of luxury #yachts, #offshoresupplyvessels or #cruiseships. In addition, Voith also offers the system as a Voith Inline Propulsor (VIP), which can be rotated 360 degrees and used as a #maneuveringaid or auxiliary drive. The MetrôRio trains are indispensable for Rio de Janeiro's infrastructure. There are currently three lines with a length of 57 kilometers and 41 stations. Three more are being planned and will further relieve traffic in the metropolis of six million people on Guanbara Bay. The #train vehicles originally come from a Chinese manufacturer, but are equipped with Voith Turbo #gearunits. However, our local colleagues then came into play for the #generaloverhaul of the fleet. They proved to be significantly faster and more cost-effective than the manufacturer. Voith Turbo not only has a competent service team in Brazil, but as a global company has a high reputation worldwide in the field of #drivetechnology for #railroad. As a first step, we developed a kit with all the necessary spareparts. The team took over the overhaul of the couplers for a total of 64 trains. As part of the cooperation, Voith Turbo also provided theoretical and practical training for MetrôRio's technical team, paving the way for a long-term collaboration.
