🌞 Summer Event Week 2024 🌞 As a remote-first company, it's essential for us at sofatutor to create opportunities for all team members to come together in person, and our Summer Event Week is the perfect occasion for this! For the last couple of days we gathered our team in Berlin for some amazing events to strengthen our bonds and spark new ideas. 🎤 Unconference Tuesday: We kicked the week off with our second Unconference, moderated by Noemi 💚 The spontaneous agenda included various sessions suggested and hosted by colleagues for colleagues. We brainstormed ideas, asked Colin, one of our managing directors (almost) anything and speed dated colleagues from other teams. 🎉 Team Event Wednesday: For our summer team event we gathered at SAGE Beach in Berlin-Kreuzberg. This year we also celebrated 15 years of sofatutor and started the event with recapping sofatutor’s first steps, major achievements and challenges throughout the years. We all got moving and grooving during an energetic percussion concert. 🥁The evening program consisted of watching the EM football game together with our dutch and english colleagues, dancing, board games, good food, drinks and conversations. Our highlight: Annette, Content Author US, put on a breathtaking fire show. Thank you for lightning up the night for us, it was fantastic! 🌈 Pride Month recap at sofatutor! 🌈 As Pride Month comes to a close, we’d like to share what happened at sofatutor. ✨ Throughout the month we’ve tried to raise awareness through different small initiatives: Our Office & Feelgood Managers Jule and elisabeth shared a variety of informational posts on current events, historical insights, and educational content. Mariane hosted a more in depth session to reflect on the company's awareness of diversity & inclusion, the office was decorated in a colorful theme, and a Slack channel for open discussion was invented. 🏳️🌈 But what happens after pride month has ended? We want to ensure that everyone in our team feels welcome and safe, also outside "official" occasions, but are aware that this requires sensitivity and time. Therefore the Diversity, Equality and Inclusion Unit of our Employee Committee and People & Culture are discussing further initiatives to ensure sofatutor’s development in this area. 🌟 Embracing sofatutor’s remote-first-culture in VR🌟 How could we use VR headsets to strengthen our remote-first culture? VR team events could become an integral part of our event culture. We could even celebrate smaller joint successes with a virtual handshake or hug. And how cool would it be to flexibly adapt our working environment to the needs of the team? Just imagine filling up on "endorphins" on the beach… 🌞 📹 In the third and last event recap video our team members go into detail about the opportunities they see in VR headsets for our collaboration at sofatutor. As we work together in a digital setup, it’s always important to us to try out new things, in order to embrace a collegial supportive work environment for everyone. 🌟 People & Culture Strategy Workshop 2024 🤝 On Tuesday, we gathered for our People & Culture Strategy Workshop at beautiful Studiogarten Berlin, on the rooftops of Berlin-Kreuzberg 🏙️ To prepare for the day, Rahel (VP People & Culture) asked us to work out smaller subteam initiatives that contribute to the bigger People & Culture vision, which summarizes: “We create a culture of close relationships, trust, and appreciation, balancing the needs of people and business to create a safe, valued, and supportive workplace.” During the day we discussed, prioritized, and further developed those ideas in different setups, focusing on sofatutor’s business strategy for the next term. 🎯 We ended with showing our colleagues appreciation for their superpowers, as we noted them down on each other's super(wo)men capes. 🦸♀️🦸♂️ #teamwork #innovation #strategyplanning #workingatsofatutor #sofatutorteam
