𝗣𝘂𝗯𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗔𝗹𝗲𝗿𝘁: 𝗔𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝗔𝗰𝘂𝘁𝗲 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗲 We are thrilled to announce that our colleagues Lea Mareen Meyer, Dr. Susan Stead, Torsten Oliver Salge, and David Antons have just published a new article: “Artificial intelligence in acute care: A systematic review, conceptual synthesis, and research agenda” in the Technological Forecasting and Social Change Journal.   Artificial intelligence (#AI) is emerging as one of the most promising #healthcare technologies, particularly in critical, data-driven, and complex environments such as acute care. This systematic review provides a comprehensive overview of the current landscape of AI research in acute using Service-Dominant Logic (SDL) as a conception framework to integrate the analysis. The authors identify three priorities for future AI research in acute care and propose suitable research methods to advance AI applications.   𝗞𝗲𝘆 𝗶𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘀 1️⃣ 𝗙𝗿𝗮𝗴𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗣𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗣𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲: 97% of research papers focus on the dyadic interaction between hospital staff and AI applications. The patient’s perspective remains significantly underexplored in current AI research. 2️⃣ 𝗙𝗼𝗰𝘂𝘀 𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗲𝗲 𝗽𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗷𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗲𝘆 𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗽𝘀: 87% of research papers study AI solutions for admission, diagnosis, and treatment. 3️⃣ 𝗗𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝘃𝘀. 𝗘𝘅𝗽𝗹𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗥𝗼𝗹𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗦𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗽𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗶𝗻 𝗜𝗻𝗻𝗼𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗪𝗶𝗲𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗙𝗿𝗲𝘆𝗲𝗿 At our Innovation Research Seminar, Wieland Freyer presented insights into the dynamics of serendipity. His discussion suggested that groundbreaking innovations do not always arise from urgent problems; often, they stem from addressing fundamental needs, offering a broader perspective on the genesis of creative solutions. 𝗞𝗲𝘆 𝗜𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘀 𝗠𝗲𝗮𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗦𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗽𝗶𝘁𝘆: Wieland's research introduces an innovative approach to quantify serendipity. This measurement allows us to gauge the blend of luck and inventor engagement in the innovation process, providing an interesting new lens through which to view innovation dynamics. 𝗜𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗰𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗦𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗽𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗼𝗻 𝗜𝗻𝗻𝗼𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: The findings suggest that while high serendipity does not necessarily equate to innovative applications, its effective transformation through recognizing broader needs can facilitate creative solutions. This highlights the importance of perspective in harnessing serendipitous discoveries. 𝗔𝗽𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝗻 𝗕𝗿𝗼𝗮𝗱 𝗧𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝗶𝗲𝘀: These insights are particularly relevant in fields like AI, where understanding how to channel broad, serendipitous discoveries into useful applications can significantly impact technology development. Wieland Freyer will discuss his findings at the Open and User Innovation Conference in Boston next month. Ecosystems characterized by a high #network density are typically driven by technological interdependencies. Ecosystems prioritizing openness and inclusivity often exhibit a flexible and participatory #governance model. These ecosystems encourage broad stakeholder engagement, fostering an environment where diverse actors can contribute to value creation and strategic direction.   3. In ecosystems where centralized coordination is pivotal, the orchestrator ensures that all participants are strategically aligned toward a unified value proposition. Erfolgreicher Abschluss des Projektmoduls unserer Kollegen Wieland Freyer und Torsten Oliver Salge im Rahmen des vom Bundesministerium für Bildung und Forschung geförderten Projekts Bioökonomie Verstehen. Verbinden. Unterstützen.

🌱  Studierende der Wirtschaftswissenschaften entwickeln Geschäftsmodelle für reale bioökonomische Gründungsvorhaben aus dem Rheinischen Revier! 🚀   In den letzten vier Wochen haben 23 Masterstudierende im Fachbereich Technologie- und Innovationsmanagement der RWTH Aachen unter der Leitung von Wieland Freyer und Torsten Oliver Salge vom RWTH Institute for Technology and Innovation Management (TIM) intensiv an innovativen Ansätzen im Rahmen der Bioökonomie im #RheinischenRevier geforscht.   Dabei ging es zum einen darum, neue Anwendungen für Technologien zu konzeptionieren, die gerade in den „realen“ Forschungsprojekten Kompetenzzentrum Bio4MatPro und Innovationscluster BioökonomieREVIER des Forschungsverbunds für eine Modellregion zur Bioökonomie entstehen. Zudem entwickelten die Studierenden sechs potenzielle #Geschäftsmodelle für Gründungsvorhaben.   Vor gut einer Woche haben die BWL-Studierenden diese Ansätze den Vertretern der Forschungsprojekte präsentiert. Viel Lob und Unterstützung gab es von Seiten der Bioökonomie-Forschenden, die das Projekt als sehr hilfreich bewerteten, wertvolle Einblicke erhielten und konkrete Empfehlungen hinsichtlich ihres Geschäftsmodells mitnehmen konnten. Das hohe Niveau des Kurses hat zu exzellenten Ergebnissen geführt, gab es doch die eine oder andere neue Perspektive auf die Geschäftsmodelle, die aus den Forschungsvorhaben entstehen.   Mit diesem ermutigenden Feedback freuen wir uns auf den heutigen Abschluss des Projektmoduls und wünschen den Studierenden weiterhin viel Erfolg. 𝗜𝗻𝗻𝗼𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗛𝗼𝗻𝗼𝗿𝘀 𝗖𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘀 𝗘𝘅𝗽𝗹𝗼𝗿𝗲𝘀 𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗹-𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱 𝗜𝗻𝗻𝗼𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 Last week, our Innovation Honors Class, our most outstanding students, accompanied by several researchers, had the fantastic opportunity to visit Capgemini Invent in Cologne. This visit was not just a field trip but a deep dive into the practical world of innovation management. At Capgemini Invent, our students were immersed in a case study workshop that focused on the realignment of innovation management at a multinational corporation. This hands-on experience was a bridge between theory and practice, allowing them to apply their classroom knowledge in a real-world context, and gain invaluable insights into strategy consulting. Our former colleague, Dr. Anja Leckel, and her colleague Christian Vogel expertly led the workshop. After the session, Sophie Meszmer and Dr. Alexander Grimm joined the students for a relaxed discussion over pizza and cold drinks, answering questions and sharing insights about the industry and career opportunities in strategy consulting. Management & Engineering in Technology, Innovation, Marketing & Entrepreneurship) have been developing innovative technology strategies in response to this question, as part of the Strategic Technology Management course. 🌟 Both part-time (online) and full-time (on-site) students have had an amazing experience in the module, gaining critical skills for leadership in R&D and beyond. 👩🏫 What have they taken away? Students immersed themselves in the concepts, tools and methods of strategic technology and innovation management and applied their new knowledge in case studies and research papers that they prepared, presented, and discussed in interactive sessions. 💪The result? Each student is now equipped to make strategic decisions and lead in technology and innovation. Well done everyone and congratulations on the great work!
