We are pleased to announce that our design with Baumschlager Eberle Architekten has been awarded second place in the competition for the “Replacement building at Maximilanstraße 53 in Munich”. Our design treats the listed building with great respect and at the same time conveys a contemporary and appropriate self-confidence. Varying openings in the natural stone façade structure the building across the storeys and along the street lines. This gives it clarity and anchors it as a building block in the urban space. The inner courtyard, on the other hand, interacts with the neighboring buildings to create a dynamic image. The extensive greenery on the surfaces and façade creates an artificial, inner-city green space that offers a high quality of stay for employees and residents. The green inner courtyard shines out into Maximilianstraße and, together with the paving, creates a uniform image that can be recognized as a flowing continuum. An intensive and extensive green roof provides a further recreational area for employees to take a break or work. The green approach of the design supports the preservation of the ecological balance through the high level of biodiversity. Together with the use of PV systems, retention roofs and the use of rainwater through the sponge city principle, an attractive area is created that contributes sustainably to improving the urban microclimate. #rainerschmidtlandschaftsarchitekten #rainerschmidt #landscapearchitecture #architecture #urbanplanning #design #competition #munich #maximlianstraße
