The very first CFM56-7B to be tested at MTU Maintenance Berlin-Brandenburg, following extensive updates to our Ludwigsfelde test facility over the past year and getting it all licensed last April. The devil is in the details, even on an impressive GE90 engine. During a recent on-site event, Maik Bannier and Jurij Posselt from MTU Maintenance Hannover's ON-SITEᴾˡᵘˢ service replaced a pesky generatorseal. As Maik put it: "The GE90 is a huge engine, but here you can see that even small parts can be responsible for high oil consumption. In this case, the carbon seal from the back-up generator was worn out. After the replacement, the engine is 100 percent ready for further operation." #WeAreEngineExperts #GE90

Though most eyes in aviation were on the ILA Berlin - Pioneering Aerospace last week, over in Dubai, MTU Maintenance was also well represented at the International Air Transport Association (IATA) Annual General Meeting. In fact, it was our 15th year as strategic partner at the event, which brings together more than 100 airlines and well over 1,500 attendees each year. To commemorate the anniversary, Martin Friis-Petersen, SVP of MRO Programs, accepted an award from IATA’s Willie Walsh on behalf of MTU Aero Engines. Congratulations to our team at MTU Maintenance Canada on completing their 1,500th shop visit! They marked the historic milestone by handing over the V2500-A5 to Spirit Airlines, the engine's operator, during a ceremonial event at the MTU facility on the outskirts of Vancouver. Since introducing the V2500 program in 2017, the location has conducted more than 300 shop visits on that engine model as well as its -E5 military variant. How time flies. Just a few years ago, EME Aero, our network’s experts for Pratt & Whitney's GTFᵀᴹ engines, started off as no more than a clearing in the "Aviation Valley" near the city of Rzeszów in Poland. Today, the JV between MTU Aero Engines and Lufthansa Technik is a thriving MRO location, having inducted 500 shop visits to date, and celebrating the addition of its 1000th engine expert. To mark the latter milestone, the EME team planted a symbolic oak tree on their premises. #WeAreEngineExperts

Girls’ and Boys’ Days at MTU! Over 100 girls and boys aged 11 to 17 experienced technical professions firsthand on Girls' and Boys’ Day 2024 at MTU in Munich, Hannover, and Berlin. The day included practical workshops, inspiring presentations, and opportunities to tackle technical projects firsthand. In Munich, they made keychains and experimented with electropneumatics, while in Hannover, they built games in the training workshop and learned about logistics processes through simulation games. MTU Maintenance Serbia was awarded the prestigious "28th April" Charter Award for outstanding achievements in occupational safety and health. The Serbian Ministry of Labour, in collaboration with the Directorate of Occupational Safety and Health and social partners, presents this award annually. This year, MTU Maintenance Serbia clinched two awards: the "28th April" Charter Award and third place in the category for companies with over 250 employees. Nikola Selakovic, the Minister of Labour, presented the awards to CEO of MTU Maintenance Serbia Rainer Becker, who dedicated the honor to the entire workforce. ’’This recognition is a tremendous honour and a testament to the unwavering commitment of our entire team to creating a safe and healthy work environment. Every employee at MTU Maintenance Serbia plays a crucial role in prioritizing safety, and this award belongs to each and every one of us’’, said Rainer Becker. Additionally, Gordana Vasojevic, EHS Manager in Nova Pazova, received special recognition for her 25-year dedication to environmental, health, and safety, as well as quality management across various industries and institutions.
