Maximizing profitability of an airline network while ensuring operational feasibility is key! This is one of the examples why I am passionate about #AirlineIT: Smart IT solutions to tackle complex challenges! Today, network planning and scheduling are highly dynamic. Rapid changes in market conditions, driven by demand fluctuations and political or environmental factors, require airlines to frequently adjust or redesign their networks more drastically and closer to the day of operation. The planning process is particularly challenging for airlines with a hub-and-spoke network. This complexity arises from managing hub connections, aircraft and crew rotations, infrastructure constraints, and balancing costs with passenger preferences. The goal is to craft the most profitable schedule while ensuring it remains operationally feasible, respecting available resources and other constraints. This intricate task demands significant effort and expertise from network planners. One core challenge is incorporating operational constraints during planning to create schedules that are not only commercially attractive but also operationally viable.
