Hello AKA Ausfuhrkredit-Gesellschaft mbH! 👋 We welcome another partner on our German platform, #WeltSparen. Founded in 1952, AKA is unique in several ways. With the initial goal of developing new ways of financing international export transactions, AKA now has an outstanding network across Europe and supports its partners in organising and managing their international trade finance transactions. 💡 In addition, AKA is also a unique example of bank collaboration and cooperation. 17 shareholder banks, some of Germany’s largest, stand behind the Frankfurt-based AKA. As a result, AKA does not see itself as competition to them but as a supplementary structuring and financing supporter that ultimately also helps exports and thus, businesses thrive. 📈 All that makes AKA Ausfuhrkredit-Gesellschaft mbH an ideal fit for Raisin and WeltSparen. It's great to have you onboard! 👏 #Deposits #Treasury #Funding

#Treasury #Funding

Why have strategic partnerships in finance become ever more important? Our Chief of Staff & VP Strategy, Dr. Verena Thaler, was in Frankfurt at “Handelsblatt Zukunft Retail Banking” (Future of Retail Banking) to participate in the panel “Banks, neobrokers, fintechs—who is ahead in the competition for customers and deposits?” 🔎 We asked Verena what her key takeaways from the event and the panel were: 💡 👉 “At the core of consumers’ financial needs are savings products. This has not changed over time but we have seen an increase in interest rates in the last 2 years. With more consumer focus on interest rates, offering attractive savings products is a key tool for banks to attract and retain customers". While this strategy is not new, it has recently seen a revival. But there is more to it than just customer retention: 👉 Retail deposits have (re-)gained in importance for the funding mix of banks after the last turmoils in the banking industry. This has highlighted the benefits of strategic partnerships with savings platforms, either to increase distribution reach to retail customers or to even get access to them at all.” Thanks to everybody involved putting together a great event and a great panel. 👏 Prof. Dr. Stephan Paul | Wiktor Stopa | Thomas Dwornitzak Alexandra Knezevic | Maria Forko Pictures: Handelsblatt-Tagung Retail Banking.

€2 billion in accrued interest! 🚀 You know what's something we are very proud of? Seeing how much consumers benefit from Raisin. 👏 Recently, consumers on our platform have surpassed the 2-billion-euro mark in accrued interest. That means Raisin has allowed them to generate interest income of more than €2 billion. Meanwhile, average market rates would have yielded less than half with around €1 billion. ⚖ Banks have also benefited from Raisin. They can tap into the retail deposits of hundreds of thousand direct customers on our platform. Currently, those assets amount to more than €65 billion, funds that banks can use to finance loans or other business activities. 📈 #Deposits #Interest #Savings

German savers shift focus away from long-term savings The European Central Bank has made its decision: for the first time in several years, the key interest rates have been cut. In light of this event, we took the opportunity to have a look at how retail savings developed in Germany. 💡 ▶️The growth of deposits with agreed maturity, i.e. term deposits, in Germany has slowed significantly according to the latest ECB data. In March and April, net inflows amounted to only €15bn respectively. The lowest since November 2022 and significantly below the monthly average of €23bn from Jan ‘23 up until the end of February ‘24. 📉 ▶️Germans however did not save less overall. Total deposit volumes saw net inflows in March and April of €11bn each. This is considerably higher than the past average and median when these net inflows were often volatile. Then however, even if total deposit volumes barely increased, term deposits still grew at a high rate - because of corresponding net outflows from overnight deposits, i.e. current and easy access accounts. Those have remained largely unchanged in March and April with total net inflows of less than €1bn. 💡 ▶️A shift towards short-term products was also visible within the inflows to term deposits. In April, deposits with an agreed maturity of up to one year accounted for 80% again. Just a few months prior, they were below 70%. Accordingly, the share of deposits with a term of one to two years and those with a term of more than two years have peaked a while ago. 👉 In summary, savers are currently focusing less on long-term products. The growth of term deposits in general has slowed significantly. Additionally, within the category, deposits with shorter terms have become more popular again. With them currently being more likely to see quick rate cuts, consumers might be better off to shift their focus back on long-term products. 👈 #ECB #InterestRates #Savings

Regulation is and remains one of the most important topics for fintechs in Europe. We are therefore happy that our General Counsel and co-President of the European FinTech Association EFA Dr. Marc Roberts was invited to a panel on financial regulation with Jan Ceyssens from the European Commission and Fabiana Mingrone from American Express. 🤝 The panel at Bitkom's Digital Finance Conference, hosted by Lukas Marschallek, had a lively discussion about crucial topics for fintechs and the financial industry such as #OpenBanking and the consequences of new regulatory frameworks like #PSD2, #FIDA, and #PSR. 💡 Thank you to everyone involved for an intriguing and insightful discussion, and of course, to Bitkom for organizing this year’s #DigiFin24! 👏
