OFFICE DESIGN WITH HUMANITY   JOI-Design is currently designing the interiors for the new Lindenstone AG brand in Hamburg, the new office is overlooking the town hall and now the opening date draws near. The spaces are designed to be agile, reflecting modern New Work philosophies, and infused with a sense of humanity that fosters closer relationships among employees, creating a friendly work environment. Our concept was based on the belief that it is important for people to return to offices to create communities, build trust, strengthen communication amongst colleagues, and form a sense of family. This is an environment they love to work in because it inspires belonging and feels exciting. We wanted to create cosy and warm spaces where colleagues feel at home and there is plenty of room for “coffee chat” communication.   Open-plan desks are positioned perpendicular to a bookshelf that also serves as a screen for a seating area. The rounded edges of the furniture subtly encourage and facilitate open communication and collaboration among individuals in the space. Rooftop views and a calming blue palette provide the backdrop for communal tables and our multifunctional suite, perfect for teamwork, catered lunches, team presentation or afterwork drinks. The bar and billiards section invites colleagues to relax while brainstorming, thereby becoming a setting where imaginative ideas are born. Timber floors, wool rugs, natural wood joinery, organic upholstery, abundant foliage… all materials were chosen to inspire healthy, humanity-focused mindsets.   #OfficeDesign #NewWork #Humanity #Community #Inspiration #JOIDesign #InteriorDesign

HUMANITY HOSPITALITY – MOXY KARLSRUHE    Humanity + Heritage + High-Tech x Hospitality² = Moxy Karlsruhe   When creating the concept for the Moxy Hotels Karlsruhe, we found inspiration in the community’s long-held dedication to innovation. Considered Germany's IT hub, the city is at the forefront of artificial intelligence and other pioneering technologies. It is also where the country’s first email was received, and the birthplace of the forerunner to the bicycle: the draisine, a pedal-operated cart for moving cargo along railroad tracks.   The hotel’s interiors mix functionality with playfulness through industrial design elements and whimsical touches that bring warmth and humanity to what could potentially be seen as a ‘boring’ subject of technology. Walls are adorned with quotes from the first German email, while a mural by Haide Ansari encapsulates the city’s progressive spirit. Karl Wilhelm, the founder of the Karlsruhe, is depicted as looking through a telescope at historical symbols of the city, as well as groundbreaking inventions such as the bicycle and the automobile, since Karlsruhe is the birthplace of Karl Benz from Mercedes-Benz.   Unique features include a chandelier made from bicycle chains, a garage door as a room divider, and a snack station integrated into a cargo bike. The bar’s glass façade features binary code motifs in a nod to tech enthusiasts, while in the lift, "Power UP" and "Shut DOWN" slogans spark guests’ sense of humour.   By embracing the ingenuity of Karlsruhe’s residents both past and present, JOI-Design has created a destination that celebrates the emotional, powerful brains behind these inventions, people who care so much about humanity that they develop new ideas which make the world a better place for everyone. The Czech national team is staying at Steigenberger Treudelberg, Hamburg!   We’re glad they get to ‘check out’ this beautiful poperty, a project JOI-Design worked on many years ago, while preparing for today’s European Championships match. The Spanish team is staying in our designed project Der Öschberghof in Donaueschingen.   We wish ¡buenas suerte! to Spain today in the European Championships. No doubt they are in top form thanks to their uber-comfortable stay in Donaueschingen at the five-star Öschberghof Golf Resort, where the interiors concept created by JOI-Design fuses luxury with natural inspirations from the Black Forest setting. This wellness immersion is ideal for helping Spain’s footballers feel rested and ready to compete - and the Michelin-starred restaurant and 5,000 sqm spa we also designed can’t hurt either! The spa area is based on biophilia and the elemental forces of nature. Surely their comfortable stay at the The Ritz-Carlton, Wolfsburg is helping them be in optimal shape! We’ve had the good fortune to work on this hotel twice, the first time in cooperation with Andrée Putman’s studio and then the second time in cooperation with Elliot Barnes. Italy is staying at the Hotel VierJahreszeiten Iserlohn!   Excitement about the European Championships is even greater here in the tournament’s host country. As Germany’s largest hospitality design studio, it’s only natural that we’ve created interiors at a number of the hotels where the teams are staying. Watch this space over the next couple weeks to see which of our projects have become a ‘home away from home’ for some of Europe’s best football players!   Today we wish the very best to Italy, whose team members are fortunate to soak up the rejuvenating natural surrounds at the Hotel Vier Jahreszeiten in Iserlohn. Translating as ‘Four Seasons’, this independent hotel is located in an idyllic stretch of grassland by Seilersee Lake, a favourite spot where locals mingle with guests and enjoy outdoor recreation. We reimagined the hotel’s restaurant Wilde Ente, which means ‘wild duck’, to have rustic yet refined comfort with modern industrial touches, resulting in an easy-going, young-spirited atmosphere. HUMANITIY CRUISESHIPDESIGN – A-ROSA SENA   The most cherished family holidays are ones with experiences that make every age group happy. The HUMANITY expressed by our creative ethos includes considering the needs of everyone who spends time in the spaces we design – including children. With the A-ROSA Kreuzfahrten, we reimagined the slow travel of river cruising as an opportunity to strengthen family connections. Specialised family cabins, a rarity on riverboats, feature bunkbeds with “portholes” that encourage imagination while allowing adults to peek in when the curtains are drawn for sleeping. Woven wall décor lets kids display art they created in the cabin’s cosy play area containing a table and chairs. Even the children of JOI-Design’s creative team got involved in the design – their input for the kids’ play space in the public areas led to the creation of a ‘cave’ where kids can hide and have their own place to ‘cocoon’.   In this age of ever-present, over-stimulated digital connection, finding analogue ways to spark children’s imaginations – even during slow travel – is a fun challenge as well as an opportunity to weave humanity into special family holidays. #humanity #arosa #joidesign #interiordesign #cruiseshipdesign

HUMANITY SERVICED APARTMENT – THE ZIPPER   Located beside the Schön Klinik hospital in Dusseldorf, Germany, The Zipper Hotel & Apartments is a newly opened HOSPITALITY X project, designed by JOI-Design. The Zipper offers insights on how we weave ‘HUMANITY’ into our creative process. A healthcare and hospitality hybrid that is geared towards healthy digital living and connections with nature, the striking zipper-inspired building by renowned architect J. Mayer H. features a multidisciplinary medical centre in its first five stories, above the Apartments and community spaces are located.   With the intention of creating a modern living community that taps into today’s zeitgeist for health-oriented living, we designed the interiors to help guests tailor their own versions of a healthy work/life balance: ‘havens of HUMANITY’ in both the physical sense of caring for the human body, as well as compassion for their mental health. Short- and long-stay residents can live in a community that encourages healthy living. We chose FF&E materials in their organic states, biophilic features, and the Zipper in orange, it’s a design feature. This result is a property with mindfulness, wellbeing and HUMANITY at as core that interlinks, like a zipper, the varying needs of hospitality and healthcare clientele into one cohesive concept. #humanity #thezipper #joidesign #interiordesign #servicedapartment #mindfulness
