Investigations of Slags from Next Generation Steel Making Processes
Info
The InSGeP project is a European research initiative co-funded by the EU Research Fund for Coal and Steel (RFCS), launched on 1st July 2023. The project receives funding under grant agreement number 101112665. 🔍 Project overview | Complying with the EU Green Deal, the RFCS objectives and Horizon Europe’s Missions to move towards climate neutrality by 2050 with a zero-pollution ambition, we must ensure that, while introducing breakthrough technologies to produce green steel, the circular concept is maintained. Because slag is an unavoidable byproduct of the steelmaking process, its sustainable recycling or usage rather than landfilling is a significant contribution to a circular economy. The InSGeP project aims to understand the potential impact of next generation steel production on the resulting slag. 🙌 Team power | The project involves 13 partners from Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Italy and Spain. Each member contributes a unique perspective and skillset that will be crucial in driving the project’s success. 💡 Innovation in action | Innovation and research are core elements of our project. We are going to explore tomorrow's steel making processes and resulting slags, whilst striving to understand and move forward the transition of the steel industry. Stay tuned for updates on the developments, strategies, and collaborations that will accompany our path towards a circular economy. 🌐 Broad impact | We are dedicated to affecting change on a broad level in addition to within our immediate social circles. As a result, we are committed to maximizing the potential impact of project outputs through dissemination to relevant stakeholders such as society, industry, technology providers and authorities. 🤝 Join the conversation | We invite you all to be part of this project. Your thoughts, insights, and feedback are invaluable as we shape the future together. Let us connect, collaborate, and motivate one another to achieve greater heights.

💡 Sustainability within the iron and steel industry: Unlocking the potential of slag ♻️ Let us dive into the fascinating world of the iron and steel industry. Slag is a byproduct of iron and steel production and exhibits significant potential when it comes to sustainable recycling and utilization. 🌍🔗 Slag is a valuable secondary resource. From construction materials to road bases, from cement production to agricultural enhancers, the applications are vast and diverse. By maximizing the potential of slag, we can significantly reduce waste and minimize environmental impact. 🌱💪 But here's the catch – realizing this potential requires collaboration, innovation, and a shared commitment to sustainability. Industries, researchers, and policymakers need to work hand in hand to develop effective methods for slag processing and utilization. 🤝✨ #Sustainability #IronAndSteel #Innovation #CircularEconomy #SustainableIndustry #RecyclingMatters #Slag #EU
