🚦🚍 Report Alert: Inclusive #Mobility for Indian Cities Did you know? In India, around 2.2% of the population lives with disabilities. A lack of accessibility in transport limits their mobility, access to education, healthcare, and economic opportunities. We found out that many problems stem from insufficient planning capacity, and a lack of public awareness and disability-specific data. Recommendations for improvements are: 👉making public transport more accessible 👉enhancing first and last-mile connectivity 👉integrating divyang-friendly measures into infrastructure projects. Read the report to learn about the challenges and opportunities of reducing barriers in #India's #transport system, making it accessible for everyone! Tonight is the final of #EURO2024. The tournament shows us quite clearly how sport can move and connect people all over the world. Sport bridges social divides, brings people together and makes societies more stable. Studies have shown that #SportForDevelopment (S4D) positively impacts the psychological and social well-being of children and youth. It helps them to cope with stress, frustration, and trauma. For girls and young women, sport can provide a safe space and foster connections between refugees and host communities. GIZ uses the inspiring power of sport to create prospects for children and young people – especially in fragile regions, crisis areas, and refugee contexts. In Jordan, Kenya, and Pakistan, for instance, we have implemented trainings in refugee camps to improve communication and resolve conflicts. In doing so, we are supporting young people to find a sense of home in their new or original communities. Last week’s Football for Sustainability Summit in Berlin was all about the use of sport in international cooperation and how sport events can be organized sustainably. I had the pleasure of joining two panel discussions with Jihan Alfindi and Khalida Popal. The stories of the two women who had to leave their country touched me deeply and it was impressive to hear how football changed their lives, gave them freedom and self-determination. To strengthen and scale up future Sport S4D initiatives, I participated in a second panel discussion. With Rémy Rioux (Agence Française de Développement), Decius Hikabwa Chipande PhD (African Union Sports Council) and Yoan Noguier (Yunus Sports Hub), I addressed the question of how to enhance knowledge exchange and the expansion of S4D initiatives such as the coalition for Sustainable Development through Sport. In conclusion of the summit, GIZ solidified its commitment to continue the successful collaboration with Agence Française de Développement underlining the strong French-German Partnership in Sport for Development in the spirit of Team Europe. Many thanks to everyone involved in the summit and also to the amazing moderation team – cheerful, focused and energizing: Hadnet Tesfai, Jo Appleby (she/her), Nazly Frias and Roy White. #SportFürEntwicklung Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) Bundesministerium des Innern und für Heimat Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Nuclear Safety and Consumer Protection UEFA DFB Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH
