As an important component of Fraport's strategy, our initiative AI@Fraport demonstrates the group’s commitment to ensuring topnotch performance globally. However, the use of #artificialintelligence not only offers us many chances, it also comes with great responsibility. Fraport has already been intensively addressing ethical issues in connection with the use of #AI systems since 2021. In 2024, the group became one of the first in our industry to establish binding worldwide principles. These are now the basis for all AI activities. 1. People are at the center of our activities: AI must not have control over people, and it must be possible to shut down the systems at any time. 2. Responsible management: It must be clearly defined who is responsible and accountable for AI systems. 3. Transparency: It must be clearly recognizable at all times where AI is used. 4. Quality and safety standards: AI applications must be safe, robust, and reliable at all times. 5. Complying with our values: AI systems must treat all humans equitably, fairly, and without discrimination. 6. Privacy: Applicable data protection regulations must be observed at all times. 7. Sustainability: AI systems must promote environmental, social, and economical wellbeing. 8. Empowerment and dialog engagement: Enabling employees to use AI and participate in the ethical discussion is a prerequisite for the use of AI. Just in time for summer travel season, Fraport opens additional security checkpoints equipped with modern CT (computer tomography) #technology at Frankfurt Airport. This time, the new checkpoints have been installed in Departures B-West of Terminal 1, where some 35,000 passengers on 200 flights depart every day. The CT scanners allow passengers to keep their electronic devices and liquids in their hand luggage without having to present them separately. This ensures faster and more convenient checks. Since the beginning of the rollout, the CT technology has proven its worth for FRA. “On the busy travel days during the recent Easter and Whitsun school vacations, there were no significant waiting times for passengers at the security checkpoints. For the upcoming summer peak season, we are now offering our customers and guests a smoother and faster experience at these busy checkpoints while maintaining the high levels of security standards”, says Pierre Dominique Prümm, Fraport AG’s Executive Director Aviation and Infrastructure. Passenger growth of seven percent at Frankfurt Airport in the first half of 2024: During the January-to-June period, a total of some 28.8 million passengers traveled via FRA. However, passenger numbers in the first half were still 14.5 percent lower than in the corresponding pre-pandemic period of 2019. “Without the numerous strikes at the beginning of the year, we would have served about 500,000 more passengers in the first half,” CEO Stefan Schulte explained. “Despite this shortfall, we are on track to achieve the projected volume of between 61 million and 65 million passengers for the full year. At the same time, the recovery in the German aviation market is still being held back by high location-specific costs imposed by regulators. Would you like to hear something cool in the middle of summer? ❄ Last week marked the 25th birthday of NICE Aircraft Services & Support GmbH – our aircraft deicing partner at #frankfurtairport. Since its founding in 1999, N*ICE has been the central provider of de-icing services at our airport, bundling all tasks previously handled by the airlines themselves. Our colleagues are a familiar sight on #winter days. And there’s room for everyone to pitch in, with many Fraport and external staff volunteering to help out the N*ICE team when needed. Together, they ensure that aircraft can safely take off and land, even during cold weather. A fleet of up to 74 de-icing vehicles is available to N*ICE for their job. That means we’re well-positioned for winter. But for now, we’ll take advantage of the summer season to train and refresh all our staff. ☀😊 #fraport #airports #aviation
