Our project "Material Inventory of existing Building Stock for Baden-Württemberg" has been selected for potential funding by the state government! 🙌 The announcement was made in Stuttgart by Minister President Winfried Kretschmann, Minister of Construction Nicole Razavi, and Minister of Economic Affairs Dr. Nicole Hoffmeister-Kraut. This funding opportunity aims to support projects that facilitate affordable housing, promote eco-friendly construction practices, and advance the digital transformation of the construction sector. 🔍 Our approach involves creating a comprehensive inventory of building materials across Baden-Württemberg. Utilizing the Urban Mining Screener (UMS), we can accurately estimate material compositions for cities and regions with minimal input data. Our colleagues Andrea Heil and Antonia Birkholz attended the opening event at the #VinzenzAreal in the Bavarian Allgäu. Georg Reisch GmbH & Co. KG has constructed three buildings using various wood (hybrid) construction methods. 🏢🌿 The area is an innovative mix of a nursing home, assisted living, and family apartments. Our expertise at #EPEA contributed to creating #CircularityPassports for the three buildings with wooden facades. Additionally, we evaluated products for material health and provided optimization suggestions for circular construction. ♻️🏡 The old concrete building was fully recycled into RC concrete, RC screed, and RC backfill for the new buildings. Thanks to our consultation, the new buildings can also serve as a resource for future materials. 🏗️🔄 A neighborhood manager organizes intergenerational activities, such as yoga/sports, communal lunch and events.
