New active EEBUS Initiative e.V. member: In June of this year, Swistec GmbH joined the EEBus Initiative e.V. Shortly afterwards, the company from Bornheim took part in our hackathon in Cologne, where it successfully tested its own EEBUS software stack at the communication protocol level. This stack is used in the company's FNN control box to enable manufacturer-independent communication between distribution system operators and controllable consumer devices. The EEBus Initiative e.V. hackathon was another milestone for Swistec, as it was able to demonstrate the interoperability of the software stack with various end devices from other manufacturers. The integration of the EEBUS standard supports compliance with the EnWG §14a and promotes efficient load control, which is an important step in intelligent connectivity and grid-side control. EEBUS – Empowering the Digitalisation of Energy Transition!
Info
The EEBus Initiative e.V. is developing a communication standard for energy-relevant devices and systems with its member companies and associations. The standard covers the entire chain from the grid operator and energy supplier to the end device (such as heat pumps, charging stations, battery storage systems, PV inverters and white goods). As a registered, non-profit organisation, the Initiative ensures that the results from its working groups and the scientific and research findings are transferred to the EEBUS specification and subsequently to the national (DKE, FNN) and international (CEN, Cenelec, ETSI, IEC and ISO) committees.

Germany's largest e-mobility research project to hold public closing event! Save the date: 11 July 2024, Berlin, unIT-e² Talks - free registration now open! At the "unIT-e² Talks: Electric Mobility - Grids - Climate Neutrality", the project partners will present the highlights of the Germany-wide field tests, which focus on the user-friendly and large-scale implementation of intelligent charging concepts. EEBus has actively been involved in 3 of the 4 clusters over the last 3 years, working on an overall system architecture, developing new use cases based on project input, standardising project results in relevant standardisation committees and finally hosting a plugfest at our Living Lab Cologne. #eMobility #EMS #standardisation #ResearchAndDevelopment #SMGW #EEBUS #LivingLabCologne

On 24 and 25 June, we opened our doors to about 20 software experts from different companies and open source projects to test their self-developed EEBUS software stacks. The aim of our hackathon was to test the interoperability of the eight software implementations, all based on our EEBUS specifications, to identify and fix bugs, to improve functionality and to get feedback on the quality of our specifications. We are very pleased with the results and look forward to the next test event in September at our EEBUSummit & Plugfest 2024. We would like to thank Schneider Electric, KEO GmbH, enjoyelec Tech Ltd., EcoFlow, NIBE, Swistec GmbH, Fraunhofer-Institut für Solare Energiesysteme ISE and Andreas Linde for their great commitment and participation in the event! #EEBUS #hackathon #interoperability #OpenSource #SoftwareStack #EEBUSummit24

Thanks to gridX for the concise explanation of the benefits of implementing §14a with a digital interface. #EEBUS #DigitalInterface #GridConnection #Standardisation #14a
🤨 We know a lot about the theory of §14a EnWG, but what about the technical implementation? 💡For example, when a DSO needs to dim or limit the consumption, they send a steering signal to the Smart Meter Gateway (SMGW) and the Control Box via a secure CLS Connection, but what happens next? How does this work with multiple assets? 🙅 Having an analog wiring or relays to all assets makes it hard for asset owners to fulfill their documentation requirements and it could lead to a complete shut-off of all devices, even when there is local production available. 🧠 So, what’s the solution? ⚡️A digital connection to an EMS via EEBUS. 🏋️♂️ For gridX, this plays to our strengths: handling a limitation signal in a HEMS setup. Our energy management system can adjust the consumption of assets accordingly while simultaneously minimizing the impact and maximizing the comfort for owners. 🗣️ And if those assets don’t “speak” the same language as EEBUS Initiative e.V. , that’s absolutely fine. As we’ve said before, the gridBox is a polyglot able to translate non-EEBUS speaking assets into other protocols such as Modbus TCP or OCPP. This enables §14a EnWG conform control for all assets. Looking back on a successful webinar: We're pleased to have reached more than 350 industry professionals and partners! Our §14a demonstrator, presented in collaboration with PSI GridConnect GmbH, MeterPan GmbH, BET Büro für Energiewirtschaft und technische Planung, IVU Informationssysteme GmbH and Stadtwerke Norderstedt showcased the transmission of a power limitation signal in accordance with §14a EnWg - along the entire communication chain. The live broadcast from MeterPan's studio was a huge success, sparking an engaging Q&A session with hundreds of insightful questions. This enthusiasm fuels our commitment to moving the energy sector forward. We're excited about the road ahead and eager to share our knowledge with more utilities, device manufacturers, installers and energy solution providers. Next stop: The smarter E Europe 2024 in Munich (without our demonstrator though). #14a #PowerLimitation #GridConnection #SmartGrid #Digitalisation #utilities
