🌟 Thrilled to announce that digitalization expert Dr. Katharina Drechsler has been awarded the prestigious Wolfgang Ritter Prize for her groundbreaking dissertation, "Promoting Digital Innovation and Transformation - Innovation Champions in the Digital Age." Dr. Drechsler's work at the University of Cologne's WiSo Faculty explores how companies can drive digital innovation by nurturing "innovation champions" within teams, rather than relying on individual entrepreneurial heroes. Her research provides valuable insights on structuring innovation processes and leveraging digital platforms to foster an innovative environment. Currently a postdoctoral researcher at the Chair of Information Systems, Dr. Drechsler has an impressive academic background, including a summa cum laude doctorate from the University of Bamberg. Her interdisciplinary research spans digital technologies like Industry 4.0, blockchain, and AI, focusing on the roles of employees and leaders in digital transformation. Her work is published in top journals such as the Journal of Information Technology and Information and Management. At the award ceremony, Bremen’s Senator Kathrin Moosdorf highlighted the relevance of Dr. Drechsler's research to social, ecological, and economic sustainability. This award, one of Germany's most prestigious in business administration and economics, reflects the multidisciplinary excellence of the WiSo Faculty. Congratulations to Dr. Drechsler on this well-deserved recognition! 🎉👏 #DigitalTransformation #Innovation #AwardWinner #ResearchExcellence #WiSoFaculty #UniversityOfCologne #Industry40 #Blockchain #AI #Leadership #DigitalInnovation

WiSo achieves top results in the WirtschaftsWoche ranking - Faculty of Management, Economics and Social Sciences remains among the Top10. The WirtschaftsWoche ranking was published this week and the results for the Faculty of Management, Economics and Social Sciences at the Universität zu Köln are impressive: Graduates from Cologne are highly regarded by employers throughout Germany. Our degree programmes in Information Systems, Business Administration and Economics are particularly successful and popular with employers. In these three subjects, WiSo remains in the top 10 and can therefore count itself among the best-listed universities in Germany. Our Business Administration and Economics departments have been in the top 10 for more than 10 years. The University of Cologne is ranked 7th in Business Administration and 5th in Economics. Among Information Systems students, WiSo is even ranked 4th – the best result of all non-technical universities. About the ranking: WirtschaftsWoche publishes an annual ranking to find out which universities HR managers prefer to recruit their young talent. This year's ranking was carried out between February and March by the employer branding consultancy Universum, which surveyed around 500 HR managers from companies with between ten and more than 1,000 employees. In addition to the latest WirtschaftsWoche ranking, you can find more information about the WiSo rankings here: https://lnkd.in/eceCcmWc #rankings #businessadministration #economics #informationsystems

🎓 Today, we were honored to have Prof. Kai-Lung Hui from The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology at our recent seminar. Prof. Hui shared about the sentiment influences on sentiment with discussion in football subreddits. Professor Hui provided an in-depth exploration of sentiment contagion in social media, presenting robust evidence that this contagion persists even when accounting for concurrent events and users' past behaviors. The contagion was observed both within the same thread and across different threads within forums. Additionally, the impact varied based on the source of the thread, with more experienced users showing lower sensitivity to contagion, highlighting a potential negativity bias. One of the most intriguing findings was that exposure to extreme sentiment—whether negative or positive—leads to reduced user activity in both the short and long term, with effects lasting up to two years. These insights have profound managerial and practical implications for understanding and managing user behavior in social media contexts. We are grateful to Professor Hui for sharing his valuable research and insights. Thank you to everyone who attended and contributed to the engaging discussion! #PhDSeminar #SocialMediaResearch #SentimentAnalysis #HKUST #AcademicTalks #socialmedia #footballfames
