🏆 a&o Kununu Award 🏆   🥇 We are proud to announce that a&o Hostels' Headquarters has been recognised as one of kununu’s Top Companies for 2024, boasting an impressive average review score of 4.0. This commendation highlights our commitment to excellence and the positive environment we strive to create at our HQ.   However, upon reviewing our a&o Operations score on Kununu, our HR team has identified significant gaps between HQ and Operations. They are dedicated to enhancing the employee experience across all levels to bridge these gaps. To achieve this, HR is rolling out a series of initiatives designed to provide comprehensive support and foster a more unified workplace culture.   Some of the key projects include: 🚐 HR on Tour – Bringing HR support directly to our operations teams to ensure their voices are heard and their needs are met. 🎓 Internal Training – Offering extensive training programmes to empower our employees with new skills and professional development opportunities. 🎁 Employee Benefits – Enhancing our benefits package to ensure our employees feel valued and supported in their personal and professional lives.   These efforts reflect our ongoing commitment to supporting every member of the a&o family, ensuring our operations teams receive the same level of care and attention as our headquarters staff. 🌱 Achieving a 77% CO2e Reduction: Discover a&o Hostels' Journey to Net Zero in 2025! 🌟 We've been busy behind the scenes, and we're thrilled to share some exciting updates with you! 🌱 Our newly refreshed 'a&o sustainability’ page is now live, showcasing our journey towards achieving Net Zero in 2025. Dive into our detailed sections on Environment, Social and Governance to see our progress and the awards and certifications we've proudly earned along the way. 🏆   We are also excited to announce the publication of the second edition of our Sustainability Report! Here are some highlights: 🌍 Continued reducing CO2e emissions per overnight stay, decreasing to 3.32 kg in 2023, a 77% reduction since 2015. 📊 We set targets for sustainable governance including materiality assessments, core KPIs integration, diversity in management, sustainability in compensation schemes and implementation of ISO 9001. 🌱 a&o undertakes environmental risk management at both group and individual hostel levels, evaluated by external rating agencies like Sustainable Fitch, where they received an ESG entity Rating of ‘2’ in early 2023. 🏨 Recertified 20 hostels with GreenSign Level 4, representing a high level of sustainability. Achieved the top GreenSign Level 5 for the Venice hostel, demonstrating the highest standards of sustainability and exemplary environmental practices. 📚 In 2023, we invested €300,000 in education and training, indicating our commitment to employee development and sustainability education. 🎨 We support local sports teams and events to promote community engagement, while also fostering cultural awareness and educational projects through the a&o Kunsthalle and our non-profit, a&o educare. 📜 a&o has fully implemented its Code of Ethics and Responsible Sourcing Policy, with both being communicated to employees and suppliers respectively. “Sustainability is significant to me personally. Two weeks ago, Lynn Dimachkia and Magdalena Knežević Knezevic had the incredible opportunity to lead a workshop on Stress Management and Leadership during Business Immersion Week at the EU Business School in Munich! 🎓✨ They shared practical techniques for handling stress, maintaining a healthy work-life balance and building resilience in the face of challenges. 🧘♂️🛠️ On top of that, they explored the core principles of effective leadership, covering how to inspire and motivate teams, foster a positive work culture and lead with empathy and integrity. 💼💡 The students' engagement was truly inspiring.
