    Tech recruitment can be incredibly challenging. You might have a candidate accept an offer, complete a week of onboarding and training, only to ghost the company without any explanation. Recruitment team is left scrambling to fill the position again, wasting valuable time and resources. The financial burden of hiring and training new employees, along with decreased productivity during the transition period, can harm any company’s profitability. Last I checked, the average cost per hire has gone up 14% from $4,129 in 2023. It’s crucial to address job-hopping in a candidate’s resume during interviews. Here are some ways to approach this: 👉 Be direct but tactful: Ask in a non-judgmental manner, such as, “I noticed you’ve had several positions in the past few years. Could you share why you changed jobs frequently?” There might be valid reasons like relocating, seeking better opportunities, or economic layoffs. Ask the candidate to explain their reasoning. 👉 Inquire about their long-term plans. For example, ask this question, “If we offer you this position, do you see yourself staying long-term? Why?” The aim is to understand the candidate’s career decisions and gauge their potential commitment without making them uncomfortable.
