I have run a series of very delicate digital restoration techniques to remove the scan lighting reflections from the image above. The revision can be found at Mona Lisa, by Leonardo da Vinci, from C2RMF retouched+noise removal

The results are particularly dramatic when looking at the full resolution image, especially the lower right side of the image.

 Not done At full-resolution the retouched version is noticeably more blurry in the dark areas. It also introduces new artifacts in certain areas (black spotting in the lighter area in the bottom right) and it half-erased the cracks in the paint, which is especially noticeable on her face and hands. It's slightly silly, but I'd like to throw my hat in the ring of the last few contributions to this image. I wish Avayak and Rhapsody Scarlet had mentioned what optimization methods/tools/algorithms they used in the last two uploads, but they didn't. All I really know is I can actually beat their score. My usual optimization workflow is to take the image and run it through OxiPNG followed by ZopfliPNG. I went back to the last version by CyberShadow and ran it through my workflow today. It came out looking exactly the same (which is the point, all of my optimizations are supposed to be lossless, so they don't change how the image looks), and I managed to shrink it to 219 KB. In the grand scheme of things, I agree with you. On this specific image, a reduction of 3 KB is more substantial than the previous contribution (a reduction of 1 KB by Rhapsody Scarlet). The actual logo color is light-blue and not black. This was discussed and approved in User_talk:Xi_Knight/archives_1#RTA. There is already a PNG version without the red area. I don't see a reason to remove it when the red area was intentionally put there to highlight Inaccessible Boot Device, and there's nothing stopping you from uploading a new jpg with the changes you want. Ehrlich: auch aus Gewohnheit. Im Ursprung natürlich zugunsten aller, wenn ein Bild oft verwendet wird, das mir über den Weg läuft. Hier trifft es allein Andernach#Schiffsverkehr. Ersetzen macht auch viel weniger Arbeit, zumal man auf das Original verweist. Beispiel: das Anleger-Bild über Deinem im Link ist ein Ausschnitt. Dessen Kontrast gab den Anlass. Entscheide einfach Du. For the first one, I have downloaded a better quality version from the same source. For the second, I have edited the current image because it contains anatomical errors and I want to update it.
