Commencement weekend (May 24 - 26, 2024) is a time to reflect on your Cornell journey, thank your loved ones for their support, and celebrate your success with your classmates, faculty, and the wider Bowers CIS and Cornell communities. We look forward to celebrating with you!
 
 
Cornell Bowers CIS Department Recognition Ceremonies
At our department ceremonies, graduates traverse the stage and are individually recognized by name.
  • Location: All Cornell Bowers CIS recognition ceremonies and receptions will be in Barton Hall. ​
  • Invitees: Cornell Bowers CIS students graduating in December 2023, May 2024, or August 2024
  • Ticketing: No ticketing is required. Graduates may invite unlimited guests.
  • Attire: Graduates wear regalia (cap and gown); ordered through the Office of University Commencement Events.

Cornell University Commencement Ceremony

Cornell’s Commencement Ceremony recognizes the entire community of Cornell graduates across all degree programs. It is when degrees are officially conferred. We encourage you to join your Cornell Bowers CIS classmates and faculty in the procession so we can celebrate this momentous occasion together.
 
The university has split the May 2024 Commencement into two ceremonies. Bowers CIS has been assigned to the afternoon event:
 
Cornell Commencement 
Afternoon Ceremony Schedule for Bowers CIS (all times EDT):
  • Stadium opens to guests: 12:30 p.m.
  • Graduates assemble: 12:30 - 1:30 p.m. (Line up on the Arts Quad behind the Bowers CIS banner)
  • Procession to stadium: 1:30 - 2:30 p.m.
  • Commencement Ceremony: 2:30 - 3:30 p.m.
Ticketing: This event now requires tickets. Learn more on the university event page.
Attire: Graduates wear regalia (cap and gown); ordered through the Office of University Commencement Events.

Dress for the Season
Ithaca weather can be unpredictable to be sure to pack for heat, rain, or cool weather, and bring comfortable shoes for walking on our campus and famous hills. Please be aware that Barton Hall is not air conditioned and there is only limited shade available in Schoellkopf Stadium. Please plan accordingly.
