Does Christianity teach anything resembling soul transfer as in Hinduism's understanding of The Journey of the Atman?

With your recent edit adding what Hinduism teaches about soul transfer in the Journey of the Atman, the question became a little better, which can now be retagged as a comparative-religion question. But you can make this more useful by 1) Provide a specific article under the link heading "soul transfer" rather than a link to Google search. 2) Modify the question to focus a specific aspect of soul transfer as discussed in the article you selected in 1). • The question could also be improved by including a simple definition or description of what "soul transfer" means. The links are handy for reference, but the question itself should be self-contained and understandable without one's having to look elsewhere. Commented Jun 2 at 14:22

No.

The spirit that rightfully and natively inhabits each person's body, his or her own spirit, is not fungible. The notion of soul transfer contradicts the reality of God's final judgment on each soul. They cannot trade places, since that would undermine the eternal law of justice.

Although spirits of the deceased and perhaps of the unborn may inhabit another person's body during this mortal life, that habitation is temporary and is mutable, and the final state of each soul is determined by God in final judgment. In the end, souls are not transferable, and each person lives his own life to the end of choosing what kind of eternal destiny he will inherit.

  • @Matthew The Holy Ghost is such a Spirit, and devils and unclean spirits can also possess bodies other than their own.

  • Irrelevant. Your claim is that human spirits can inhabit the bodies of other humans. Where is this taught?

  • @Matthew It is not irrelevant. It is apparent from the Scriptures. Human beings can become devils or angels based on our choices. The Savior and His Apostles taught that we are the children of God, and joint-heirs with Christ in all that the Father has and is, if we suffer jointly with Christ. This is the best call to action ever given.

  • "Human beings can become devils or angels based on our choices", really? Where is that taught?
