2$\begingroup$ Which isomers of octane and nonane are you using? I'd expect the effect will depend on that. $\endgroup$– albapaCommented Jun 29, 2015 at 10:18

$\begingroup$ No isomers, just the single chain $\endgroup$– Dirk BruereCommented Jun 29, 2015 at 12:50

$\begingroup$ I can see someone else edited the question - could you please confirm you're asking about n-octane and n-nonane? Thanks. $\endgroup$– albapaCommented Jun 30, 2015 at 10:16
