enter image description here So in this question I had gotten the answer as 5 Transition states, however the official answer key states it to be 6.

Upon digging further for resources I found a reference in Peter Sykes similar to this one.

    $\begingroup$ Ring expansion would not occur in the 4th TS. Instead a hydride shift should take place due to extra resonance. $\endgroup$ Commented Jul 9 at 15:25
