We are looking for a Business Analyst to join our dynamic IT department, with a focus on the Commodity Trading Risk Management system for Mercuria’s core business of oil and related sectors. You’ll be working with the CTRM responsible and the key business stakeholders, including operators, middle officers, contracts, risks, and settlement teams to gather business requirements, understand the as-is situation, and define the to-be target model. A passion for technology and innovation is essential, as you will be actively seeking to identify and drive improvements and innovation within the team. You should possess strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to explain and solve complex issues. Understanding technology project management best practices and agile delivery is crucial, as you will be a member of an agile technology development team, with responsibilities toward sizing, prioritizing, and delivering the backlog of work. You should be experienced in managing agile development projects and delivering the milestones. You should demonstrate concise and transparent reporting on the project progress while ensuring the quality of the code delivered. A delivery-focused mindset, coupled with humility and undefeated curiosity, will make you the perfect person for the job. You will own the task from requirement to development and delivery, ensuring a high level of satisfaction from the business.



Key responsibilities

  • Work closely with business users to understand processes for the physical business (vessels, downstream, etc) across all wet and dry commodities (oil to refined products passing by coal)
  • Enhance and maintain relationship with the business users across the firm
  • Support the product owner to prioritize roadmap, define scope of features and user stories
  • Enhance existing solution developed in T-SQL or python
  • Produce detail requirement analysis and functional specification when working with the software vendor


Skills

  • +3 years of relevant experience is required
  • Mandatory experience in the financial sector
  • Understanding of PnL and risks market in general
  • Understanding of the roles and functions performed by middle office, back office, operators
  • Good interpersonal skills – able to build relationships across the firm
  • Professional technical capabilities in SQL and python and/or .Net
