Our portfolio company, Biograil™ announced today it has signed a Collaboration Agreement with CSL Behring Lengnau, a subsidiary of Australian biotech giant CSL. After obtaining successful early feasibility data, CSL and Biograil agreed to expand their collaboration. Under the agreement, CSL and Biograil will work together to advance BIONDD™, the Biograil drug delivery technology with respect to certain CSL proprietary compounds, seeking to achieve effective oral drug delivery of a compound which is injected today. The agreement includes upfront payments and research funding and an option to enter into an exclusive license incorporating a signing fee, development and commercial milestones, and royalties on product sales. The company announced today the closing of a USD 12.5 million funding round co-led by LocalGlobe and ETF Partners. Among the new investors joining Cubbit were Verve Ventures, 2100 Ventures, Hydra (holding of Datalogic), Growth Engine, Eurenergia and Moonstone Venture Capital. Azimut Libera Impresa SGR – Azimut Digitech Fund under the advisory of FNDX, CDP Venture Capital SGR through its Fondo Evoluzione, and Primo Ventures are returning investors. Individual investors include Fabio Fregi, former Italy Country Manager of Google Cloud, and Joe Zadeh, former VP Product at Airbnb. The new funding will enable Cubbit’s growth in Europe, with an initial focus on DACH countries, French-speaking regions and the United Kingdom. Paul has had an extensive executive career in the biopharma space, with commercial and M&A expertise spanning North America, Europe, and Asia. He has over 10 years of experience working in the virology field at Gilead Sciences Inc., most recently as EVP and Chief Commercial Officer, where he oversaw over $30 billion dollars of sales and contributed to multiple M&A transactions. Prior to this, he spent seven years at GlaxoSmithKline (“GSK”), where he was responsible for all GSK interests in the Greater China region.
