Earlier this year, RSB hosted a 4-part webinar series for anyone to leverage the sustainable aviation fuel (#SAF) opportunity and achieve their decarbonisation goals. These recordings are now freely available to watch, re-watch and dive into expert views on all things related to SAF sustainability – from #rawmaterials to #bookandclaim. At COP28, in partnership with Alaska Airlines and Microsoft, RSB announced the official launch of SAF-now.org – an educational resource designed to empower key decision-makers with educational videos and factsheets on topics most relevant to making the switch to #SAF. In response to the increasing interest in this resource, RSB and its partners recently hosted a four-part webinar series of specially curated learning sessions, covering relevant topics that would help stakeholders dive deeper into the world of #SAF. The webinar recordings, educational videos and factsheets are now publicly available on SAF-now.org for anyone to explore.

RSB is once again a proud partner of Aviation Carbon Events, the leading international aviation sustainability event since 2012. Taking place 25th-26th November at #London #Heathrow, Aviation Carbon has grown to become a unique networking forum for aviation sustainability experts and professionals who meet with their peers, talk and learn from other industry and solutions experts, make new contacts and catch up with long-established friends. This year will be providing the latest updates on key topics and also we will add much more content of the non-CO2 impacts of aviation on the climate, which has seen increasing interest by policymakers in tackling the issue as well as potential technical and operational measures being developed to mitigate the net warming impacts of contrails. Registration for Aviation Carbon is now open. RSB members are entitled to a 20% discount for 1 seat per member organisation, and should contact RSB to receive the discount code. Congratulations to RSB Executive Director Elena Schmidt, who has been appointed to serve on the Science Based Targets initiative Validation Council – an independent deliberation and decision-making body that oversees the governance of SBTi's target validation work. Elena joins four other leaders representing expertise in certification, verification and data reporting – Stefan Marinkovic (ISO - International Organization for Standardization), Dr Ann Smith CEnv FIEMA EHF (Standards New Zealand), Bennett Wetch (Nike) and Qiuming XU (TÜV Rheinland Group) – who will support SBTi as it evolves beyond target-setting to a standard-setting and validation organisation which can support companies with validating progress against their targets. The new Validation Council will support this transformation. Congratulations on your appointment, Elena!
🎯The SBTi’s transformation into a formal voluntary standard-setter with a separate validation services entity steps up a gear this week as we unveil a new Validation Council. Following an open call early this year, the five-member independent Validation Council has been appointed to oversee target validation decision-making within the new validation services entity. We warmly welcome Stefan Marinkovic, Elena Schmidt, Dr Ann Smith, Bennett Wetch, and Qiuming XU. Their wealth of certification experience will be invaluable in enabling the validation services entity to continue to meet the growing demand for science-based targets. 🎯In addition to this milestone, we're opening a call for non-executive directors to join the Board of our validation entity. Their role will be to oversee the development of strategic direction and plans, and establish the entity’s governance framework. Both steps underline the separation between the SBTi’s standard-setting and target validation entities. Reflecting on the appointment of the Validation Council and call for Board of Directors, SBTi CEO Luiz Fernando do Amaral said: “These are critical steps which will continue the separation between standard-setting and target validation services and help equip the validation services entity to meet the continued momentum from companies and financial institutions worldwide to set climate targets.” 👉Head over to our website to find out more, including how to apply to join the Validation Board of Directors: https://lnkd.in/ecdKizxh #SBTi #SBTiScaleUp #NetZero #ClimateAction
