Happy 5th Birthday, HAYA! 🥳 Over the past five years, HAYA Therapeutics has undergone a remarkable transformation. What started as a small Swiss biotech focused on lncRNA-targeting therapies for non-obstructive hypertrophic cardiomyopathy has grown into a globally recognized leader in RNA-based precision medicine, pioneering treatments for fibrosis affecting the heart and lungs, and various age-related conditions, including cancer. From developing a groundbreaking platform for reprogramming disease driving cell-states to curating the world's largest lncRNA atlas, we have spent the last five years effectively translating findings from the lab into real-world applications. And now, we are moving them into the clinic, preparing for phase 1 clinical trials in 2025 with our lead candidate Wisper, a cardiac-specific lncRNA that promises to revolutionize the treatment of heart tissue fibrosis. Going into our sixth year, we are primed to fully leverage the power of the regulatory genome in the fight against common, chronic, and underserved rare diseases. Wir gratulieren Dr. Samir Ounzain und Dr. Daniel Blessing, den beiden Mitbegründern von HAYA Therapeutics, die den diesjährigen Preis in Anerkennung ihrer herausragenden Leistungen im Aufbau eines jungen und dynamischen Biotech-Unternehmens und ihrer wissenschaftlichen Fortschritte bei der Entwicklung eines neuartigen therapeutischen Ansatzes der auf lange nicht-kodierende RNAs (lncRNAs) abzielt, erhalten haben.   HAYA Therapeutics entwickelt programmierbare Therapeutika, die auf in der klinischen Entwicklung bisher wenig genutzte lncRNAs, eine neue Klasse regulatorischer Moleküle, abzielen. Das Unternehmen nutzt seine innovative Plattform zur Veränderung des Zustands von Zellen, um neue Einblicke in die Biologie pathologischer Zellzustände und die sie regulierenden lncRNAs zu gewinnen und so fibrotische Erkrankungen zu bekämpfen.   Die Gewinner wurden aus den hochkarätigen Finalistinnen und Finalisten nach einer Präsentation ihrer Arbeit und wissenschaftlichen Leistungen vor einer Expertenjury führendender Persönlichkeiten der DACH-Life-Sciences-Branche ausgewählt. Alle Finalistinnen und Finalisten spiegeln die großartige Entwicklung der DACH Life-Science-Branche wider und umfassen mit ihrer Arbeit verschieden Entwicklungsstadien und eine Bandbreite neuartiger therapeutische Ansätze. Die Gewinner wurden vergangenen Freitag, den 28. Juni im Rahmen des Festivals der Zukunft im Deutschen Museum in München bekannt gegeben und erhielten den mit 100.000 € dotierten Preis.

HAYA's co-founders, CEO Samir Ounzain, Ph.D., and CTO Daniel Blessing, Ph.D., were deeply honored to receive the inaugural Andreas & Thomas Strüngmann Award on Friday night during the "Festival of the Future" in Munich. The new award, which recognizes life science entrepreneurs developing revolutionary technologies in the DACH region (Germany, Austria, and Switzerland), is named for twin brothers Andreas Strüngmann, M.D., and Thomas Strüngmann, Ph.D., who were formative in the establishment of BioNTech, a pioneer in mRNA vaccines. The HAYA team is incredibly proud of Samir and Daniel for this incredible achievement. Their entrepreneurial spirit, passion and vision have been instrumental in propelling HAYA forward, fostering growth through our groundbreaking regulatory genome platform and strong product pipeline. Patrick Hsu lab at the Arc Institute has unveiled bridge RNAs, enabling programmable DNA insertions, excisions, and inversions. This leap beyond CRISPR opens new avenues for genome engineering. Last Friday, HAYA had the honor of attending the Swiss Economic Forum as finalists in the Deeptech/Life Sciences category. The event was vibrant and inspiring, filled with engaging talks with leaders from diverse fields. Our CEO, Samir Ounzain, delivered a captivating pitch to a large audience, which was also broadcasted on TV. Although we didn't take home the top prize in our category, we received tremendous support and encouragement. We continue to pursue our mission of bringing a new generation of therapeutics targeting the regulatory genome, with the potential for greater efficacy and safety, to patients.
