Check out this cool Agile clock created by participants in our Lean Change Agent workshop! Module 1 of our workshop (Change Agility) is all about how change practitioners can use Agile thinking to transform the way that they VIEW change work and the way that they DO change work. In order to get into the head of Agilists, one of the exercises we complete is the "Agile clock". The object of this game is for the team to rewrite the 12 Agile principles in three words or less and then place each of the numbered principles on its corresponding position on a clock. The idea behind this game is that if you can rewrite each principle in three words or less, you understand the essence of what each principle means - and it's not about software development! Check out out next Lean Change Agent workshops kicking off in a few weeks and learn how to turn Agile thinking in acting for your change initiatives! Due to the entangled nature of complex human systems, prediction is not possible. Change assessments, analysis, strategies, and plans that are based on any point in the future are simply wild guesses. This doesn't mean that analysis and planning shouldn't be undertaken - but it should be done more often, in shorter time horizons, and in smaller chunks. The point of analysis and planning is to generate thoughts (ideas). The point of action is to validate those thoughts. The only way to navigate forward in complex human systems is to rapidly integrate your thoughts (ideas) with action (validation). Until you complete this cycle, thoughts remain unvalidated guesses and action remains your unrealized potential for learning. #change #changemanagement #agile

What if we started talking to people about "the thing" before we started building "the "thing"? What if we flipped our thinking around this one and engaged change management first? What if we actually engaged employees in true co-creation before we decided on an end-state solution? How can we be more sure than we are initiating the right change? It's time to recognize that change management comes first. Building the thing is the easy part. Creating the conditions in a human system for the thing to be embraced and adopted is the difficult part. Start with the difficult part. #change #changemanagement #projectmanagement

"If I had an hour until go-live I'd spend 55 minutes creating alignment for the change and 5 minutes training people on the solution". If Einstein bad been a change manager, he would probably would have said this 😂 It's not that training isn't important. It is. It's just that many organizations fall into the trap of thinking that they can slap training on anything as the solution to adoption and successful change. But how effective will training be if people fundamentally are not aligned with the change? How sustainable will the change be? Alignment ≠ agreement. Alignment means you can support the change even if you don't "like" the change, because you share a common vision and direction for why the change must happen. The fundamental purpose of change management is to create alignment for change through shared context. Nothing else matters as much. #change #changemanagement #projectmanagement
