Details
Firefox for Android
Steps to reproduce:
iPad 6th generation, iPadOS 16.5
Firefox 113.1 (30885)
When the search bar gets focus, the display around the bar flickers to the left of the bar where the back/forward arrows and search engine logo are displayed. The search bar does not accept any keyboard command. Other input controls (e.g. login bar at firefox.com) respond as expected.
The problem only occurs when the iPad is connected to an external keyboard. I reproduced the problem with Apple Universal Control and a Zagg Flex keyboard. When disconnected from an external keyboard, the search bar behaves as expected.
To reproduce the problem I disconnected the iPad from the keyboard and then used the built-in iPad keyboard to enter and entered a string of characters in the search bar. Then I connected two different external keyboards, first Apple Universal Control then a Zagg Flex, and attempted to enter a string of characters in the search bar.
Actual results:
When using the iPad built-in keyboard, Firefox behaved as expected. When I connected to each of the two external keyboards, the search bar flickered and would not accept keyboard input.
Expected results:
When connected to an external keyboard, Firefox should (and until recently, did) accept text input in the search bar.

The Bugbug bot thinks this bug should belong to the 'Firefox::Address Bar' component, and is moving the bug to that component. Please correct in case you think the bot is wrong.

CORRECTION: Problem is with address bar and not search bar. Nomenclature error on my part.

This is a device issue not a desktop issue. Please add the corresponding component. Thank you.

Problem is severe -- the address bar does not accept keyboard input when the iPad is connected to an external keyboard.

Note: the problem occurs when new tab is set to blank page. When new tab is set to Firefox homepage, address bar works as expected. Similar to problems reported in:
