$\begingroup$ That creates empties each with a "Follow Track" constraint attached to the associated track. If I do this with existing markers, I can then check the "3D Position" checkbox in that constraint to show the 3D location of the marker. However, if I do this with my new markers, the 3D position is just shown as the origin. Presumably this is because I haven't solved the 3D positions of the markers. How can I solve the 3D positions of these new markers without disturbing my camera solve? That's the main subject of this question. $\endgroup$– BenCommented Jun 18 at 22:28

$\begingroup$ Weighting the new markers to 0 seems good. It seems like it would be nice to be able to "lock" the camera solve and compute new markers' 3d positions, but it seems like there isn't an easier way to do that $\endgroup$– BenCommented Jun 19 at 19:49

How to Tag
A tag is a keyword or label that categorizes your question with other, similar questions. Choose one or more (up to 5) tags that will help answerers to find and interpret your question.
- complete the sentence: my question is about...
- use tags that describe things or concepts that are essential, not incidental to your question
- favor using existing popular tags
- read the descriptions that appear below the tag
If your question is primarily about a topic for which you can't find a tag:
- combine multiple words into single-words with hyphens (e.g. cycles-render-engine), up to a maximum of 35 characters
- creating new tags is a privilege; if you can't yet create a tag you need, then post this question without it, then ask the community to create it for you
