The single authoritative voice on advertising self-regulation in Europe.
About us
EASA – the European Advertising Standards Alliance, is the single authoritative voice of advertising self-regulation in Europe and beyond. We are a non-profit organisation with a Brussels based secretariat. EASA has a network of 42 organisations representing 28 advertising standards bodies (also called self-regulatory organisations) from Europe and 13 organisations representing the advertising ecosystem (the advertisers, agencies and the media) and 1 digital pure-play company. With our members, we work to promote high ethical standards in advertising through the use of effective self-regulation, whilst being mindful of national differences in culture as well as legal and commercial practices. By supporting the creation and development of advertising self-regulation that is agreed upon by all members; developing and sharing best practices and guidance; assisting specific product sectors in the development of sectoral commitments and by carrying out monitoring exercises for specific product sectors, EASA ensures an effective and credible self-regulatory network.

Today, EASA’s Lucas Boudet had the pleasure to speak at the GALA Global Advertising Lawyers Alliance Breakfast on Sustainability in Cannes, in his capacity of Vice-Chair of the International Chamber of Commerce Global Marketing and Advertising Commission. Collective advertising self-regulation contribute to responsible advertising when it comes to #sustainability. How? Through rules, prevention and enforcement. What’s next? ➡️moving from green claims to more general sustainability issues; not only prohibit bad practices, but instead promote good attitudes; enhance monitoring, helped by technology. All of this is reflected in the soon to be released 11th revision of the new ICC code, together with a certificate launched by ICC in responsible marketing communications. Thanks to GALA for organising this session and to all the other speakers for sharing their perspective on this important topic! Jeffrey Greenbaum Guy Parker Stephane Martin Michael Todd
