Consortium meeting in #Firenze hosted by Italcertifer S.p.A. - Ferrovie dello Stato Italiane S.p.A. Group finalising the "Map of Railway Needs in 2030", i.e. the list of products/components (physical/immaterial) that will represent the results of Europe's Rail Joint Undertaking innovation activities to 2030. Among the main trends, and despite OEMs' plans to use for such innovations commercial off-the-shelf components, the increased need e.g. for more advanced chips to run innovative functions will be highly critical for the Railway sector. This confirms the results emerged from the first project phase, where we surveyed the European rail supply chain and mapped the current disruptions. Market, geopolitical and climate change considerations imply high-level supply risks for the future and suggest to take into consideration the supply chain already during the innovation projects.
