Collaborating for positive impact through responsible sourcing

About us

AIM-PROGRESS is a a global initiative of consumer goods manufacturers and suppliers with the aim to enable and promote responsible sourcing practices and sustainable production systems. It is supported and sponsored by AIM in Europe. Our key objectives include: - Share learnings and best practices regarding responsible sourcing especially those focused on human rights with respect to supply chains through our different work streams. - Leverage synergies and support an effective collaboration and potential convergence with other likeminded global initiatives. - Develop and promote the use of common evaluation methods to determine CSR performance within the supply chain - Drive efficiencies for all companies by collecting, assessing, and sharing non-competitive information on supply chain social compliance performance. - Help develop and promote responsible sourcing practices within the supply chain. Reduce audit fatigue for suppliers by encouraging them to share their audit reports with many customers to avoid duplicate audits. "An audit for one is an audit for all". About our activities: AIM-PROGRESS has four Working Groups on Living Wage/Income, Responsible Recruitment and Forced Labour, Grievance Mechanism, and Impact Measurement. In addition, it also has two Work streams on Mutual Recognition and Capability Building as well as two regional hubs in APAC and Africa. For more information: AIM-Progress is open to any manufacturer or supplier who meets the membership criteria with the exception of companies from the arms and tobacco sectors.

NEW DATE: Alternative Approaches in the Tea Sector – Webinar with (at) THIRST Join us for our upcoming webinar with Sabita Banerji, CEO of THIRST. 📅 Date: 15th July 2024 🕙 Time: 10am EST / 3pm BST / 4pm CET Open to AIM-Progress members, their suppliers, and partner organizations! We welcome Sabita Banerji, CEO of THIRST. Sabita will introduce THIRST's latest publication - Alternative Approaches in the Tea Sector which offers a series of case studies and asks whether non-traditional business models and trading systems can improve human rights in the tea sector and other plantation and agricultural sectors. These approaches include embedding responsible purchasing practices, and Sabita will explore how this could help to tackle the egregious and endemic issue of sexual exploitation in the sector. The report is part of THIRST's human rights impact assessment (HRIA) of the tea sector. THIRST is The International Roundtable for Sustainable Tea - an NGO working with all tea stakeholders towards a resilient tea sector that is fair for all.   For more information, contact Nora Wolters at nora.wolters@aim-progress.com 📧   #HRIA #GBV #THIRST

Some reflections from our Executive Director, Louise Herring about the Global Forum on Responsible Recruitment two weeks ago:   💼 A push to focus on the employer pays principle must not detract from the full worker journey and #ForcedLabour indicators that go beyond fees and into accommodation, withheld wages, fair treatment, paid leave, and other basic factors of decent work.   📊 We are starting to talk about the true cost of recruitment, which is great. Now we need to really understand it and make it happen, upskilling procurement teams and embedding responsible recruitment principles from the start of supplier relationships.   🌟 Supplier and labour provider ownership of the responsible recruitment agenda was in evidence aplenty. This needs to be encouraged by more market demand, more capacity building and investment, and rewards for those engaged and willing to go above and beyond legal requirements.   🖊 However, progress should not be hindered by duplicative demands from brands and retailers. AIM-Progress is deeply committed to advancing the convergence agenda.   🌍 Recruitment within GlobalSupply chains is becoming increasingly complex in a world where labour mobility needs are growing amidst more conflict and the impacts of #ClimateChange. Businesses will require robust, worker-centered systems to navigate these challenges effectively.   Our conclusion is clear: what the Forum clearly showed was the extensive scope of ongoing work and discussions, fuelled by the passion of dedicated individuals. However, there remains a critical need to break down silos, confront challenges transparently, and foster knowledge sharing. If you're interested in learning more about our initiatives in responsible recruitment, please reach out to us: https://aim-progress.com/   Replays from the Forum are available here https://lnkd.in/e3f7Vjhi   Institute for Human Rights and Business Stronger Together Neill Wilkins, Jantine Werdmüller von Elgg Hannah Newcomb Yael Fattal Lariccia🎗️

Last week in beautiful Amsterdam, we had the pleasure of participating in the IDH Living Wage & Living Income Summit. The event featured a wealth of interesting practices, data, and case studies. One of the most inspiring stories was from janepher Nassali who started as a flower picker on a farm in Uganda and rose through the ranks to lead the Uganda Horticulture, Industrial, Service Providers and Allied Workers Union (UHISPAWU). Janepher emphasised the importance of engaging rightsholders and involving social partners like unions and certification bodies from the beginning when working on living wage initiatives. Some Highlights: 🔑 Collective bargaining: Essential for closing the #LivingWageGap, focusing on freedom of association and investing in social dialogue so workers can negotiate for wage improvements. 🌍 Interconnection with #HumanRights and #EnvironmentalIssues: Living wages and incomes are crucial for addressing various human rights and environmental issues. The income of workers and farmers impacts our ability to adapt to increasing temperatures, affecting human health, farm productivity, and food affordability. 💰 Responsible purchasing practices: Fair remuneration is critical to achieving higher wages and better working conditions for workers and farmers. 🤝 Transparency, trust, and long-term engagement: Shared responsibility between suppliers and buyers on human rights and environmental due diligence in contracting is essential, with a commitment to long-term engagement. 📢  Action from governments, investors, and society: Necessary to make living wages and incomes significant for business success. IDH has launched Buyer Guidelines on closing the living wage gaps for buyers who want to provide financial contributions. These guidelines use temporary measures of voluntary financial contributions with the goal of positively influencing workers' incomes. Read more here: https://lnkd.in/eung5QE5 At AIM-Progress, we have set clear objectives for members to work towards paying a living wage in our statement of engagement on Living Wage. We offer support, strategy, and guidance to help members and their suppliers achieve these objectives through capability building. Learn more about our work here: https://lnkd.in/dUsXQpdD
