VERTO (Australia) Transition to Work (TtW) Case Manager Robyn Cameron and Employer Engagement Consultant Ry Freilich joined special NAIDOC Week festivities in Casino hosted by RICHMOND VALLEY COUNCIL this week. Robyn and Ry set up a stall packed with engaging activities like nail painting and string art - a great opportunity to engage with young people and families, and share information about our TtW program - which helps young people into work or education. Bucking the trend in a male-dominated industry, proud Aboriginal woman and Orange resident Kyhia Gilby, 22, is making waves in Australia’s clean energy sector. As a second-year electrical apprentice with Transgrid, Kyhia is working on local substations increasingly powered by renewable energy. VERTO (Australia) is proud to support apprentices like Kyhia through the Australian Government’s New Energy Apprenticeships Mentoring Program, now available nationally. “My Dad and Pop are builders, so I’ve had an interest in taking up a trade since I was young,” Kyhia said. As part of Newmont Corporation Cadia's annual garden blitz initiative, aimed at revitalising gardens across the Orange region, the Tidda Tradies were commissioned to design three beautifully handcrafted benches for Spring Terrace Public School.
