BGIS is excited to announce that we have been awarded an integrated facilities management contract for Homes NSW, a NSW Government department managing housing maintenance, tenant services and homelessness support. The contracted portfolio is across 13,600 social housing properties in New South Wales, Australia, and commenced on 1 July 2024 for a five-year period. The scope of the facilities management services includes repairs and maintenance, carpentry, plumbing, electrical, garden maintenance, rubbish removal and cleaning services. “We are thrilled to welcome Homes NSW as a new client,” said Dana Nelson, President and Managing Director, Asia Pacific. “This strategic growth establishes our social housing footprint in New South Wales, and both expands and leverages our strong technical capabilities in the region.”  Read more: https://lnkd.in/gve8WW4n

Representatives from BGIS Defence and Bennelong Energy Services (BES), together with the Australian Defence Force and RAAF Base Richmond hosted a NAIDOC Week engagement event with the local community of Gilgandra, many of whom are Indigenous, to thank them for their support. The residents of Gilgandra, in central NSW, experience regular training activities run by RAAF in and over their community. To thank the locals, they were invited to come along and engage with military members from all services, diverse backgrounds and in a wide range of roles. As a bonus, the locals were invited to climb through the aircraft that is always flying overhead. Karla Duroy-Olson, Senior EMOS Manager Defence, Steven Mazic, EMOS Manager, Defence, together with Cliff Lyons, Director, BES were thrilled to attend the event and engaged with the local community.

  The BGIS projects team recently completed architecture, heritage and services upgrades for the Department of Communities and Justice (DCJ), at the Chief Secretary’s Building located at 50 Phillip Street, Sydney. Constructed in 1880 the building is of state heritage significance, with BGIS completing fit-out, services and upgrades to all six floors of the building, including HVAC, amenities and security upgrades throughout. This included mechanical replacement works on the building’s rooftop. Works completed involved the full fit-out on levels 3 and 4, HVAC upgrades to all floors including new roof top plant and outside air risers, and security upgrades to all six levels.   Well done to Jack Racklyeft, Senior Project Manager, Ellen Johnson, Senior HSEQ Advisor, Liam Sansom, Construction Manager, Roshan Joshy, Project Manager, Khurshid Saleri, Assistant Project Manager, Lachlan Howard, Project Management Cadet for completing these works with fantastic results!

Sunday July 7 marked the beginning of NAIDOC Week, a time to celebrate and recognise the history, culture, and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. This year’s theme is ‘Keep the fire burning! Blak, Loud and Proud’ which celebrates not only the survival but also the relentless spirit of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.   "This year's theme inspires me to honour and amplify the strength and resilience of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures within our organisation. It calls for a celebration of our identity, heritage, and achievements, urging us to speak our truths and stand tall. This theme resonates deeply, reminding me of the importance of preserving our traditions while boldly advocating for our rights and recognition.
