AREA3 project managed the Cooma Regional Sports Hub together with the Snowy Monaro Regional Council and in partnership with NSW Department of Education. The high quality indoor sports facility will cater for a range of sporting activities from informal sport to local club and regional level competitions. Overcoming multiple challenges along the way the new centre is ready for use and includes three timber sprung courts, meeting room, court design and sports equipment for basketball, netball, futsal, volleyball and badminton, drop-down electric screen between each court, two player change rooms, separate referee change room, public toilets, first aid room and office, modern digital scoreboard, five tiered bench seating spectator bays (320 seats), kiosk with dry store, and three community storage rooms. This new sporting hub will allow the local community to enjoy year-round sports at a central location and is already being well utilised by the community sporting groups and Monaro High School. Well done to Mabel Chew, Director, AREA3 and Brendan Scicluna, Senior Project Manager, AREA3 for project managing these works with fantastic result!

The new structure will position us to service our expansive client base with an integrated offering across project and construction management services, and energy and sustainable solutions. Strategic areas in the advisory services business include commercial solar and batteries, electric vehicle solutions, critical environments, and data centres. Charles Penny will lead this business unit in the role of Managing Director, Advisory Services.
“We are confident this approach will improve our full services offering to meet client needs," Dana Nelson, President and Managing Director, APAC said. “Bringing together these teams combines our subject matter expertise to deliver innovative solutions for our clients and projects,” Dana said.
Gilroy Catholic College located in Castle Hill, is undergoing a large redevelopment of its existing campus. Designed by Stanton Dahl Architects, Reitsma Constructions is completing the project on behalf of the Catholic Schools Parramatta Diocese (CSPD). Project Management is being undertaken by AREA3 .
In recent weeks, the team has completed the concrete and retaining walls to level one with formwork commenced to level two concrete columns. Another fantastic education project delivered by our Sydney team.
Charles Penny, Managing Director of Area3, a BGIS company, highlights that with the uptake of AI, data centres face the challenges of power, density, cooling efficiency and connectivity. And as data centres are notorious consumers of energy, the onus is on these assets to be more sustainable.
That is, AI is fuelling demand for data centres and computer power, at the same time that sustainability initiatives are focused on reducing the world’s carbon emissions.
“This can create a perfect storm,” explains Charles, about the balance between the demand for computer power with the speed at which our initiatives can keep up. He says the two main buzz words in the data centre community at the moment are sustainability and AI.
“Sustainability is the driving force that will move the dial and encourage data centre operators to implement not only AI solutions, but also sustainable power and cooling opportunities such as wind, batteries and liquid direct to the chip or fully immersed technologies. In some countries modular nuclear projects are being seriously considered.”
